Martin's lips twitched in contempt as he read the 'requirements' and mumbled, "Are you looking for a waitress or a mistress? And what is with the size requirements? Are you sure you are looking for a woman, not a…"
"Brat what did you say?!" as he was mumbling to himself he was cut off by these words. He suddenly as if he was being eyed by a demon from the ninth level of hell. Weirdly enough even though he felt a chill climb up his spine, he started sweating profusely.
"I-I was j-just saying that senior is handsome, intelligent, and has excellent taste. Truly the epitome of perfection." Martin started flattering as if his life depended on it.
Jefferey simply gave him a sidelong glance and looked after, clearly still displeased. For some reason, Martin inexplicably felt as if he was marked for something bad to happen.
While he was silently cursing his mouth for putting his mouth in trouble, Martin hear the sound of slight water splashes. Turning his head to look at the source, he found a group of three people walking over. They were walking on the surface of the lake, indicating that they should have a cultivation level of upper initial elemental qi at least.
The group was wearing an identical set of loosely fitting purple and white robes. The three had long hair that went past their shoulders. On their waists were identical purple jade-like tokens that read 'purple valley, outer sect disciple'. Looking at them walking over from afar, Martin had a strange feeling that they could ascend to the sky at any given moment.
"So cool!" Martin blurted out. The three pretended not to hear, but he sounded so sincere they couldn't help but point their noses to the sky.
As they boarded the restaurant dock, Martin did his Job and welcomed them in.
"Ah! So they finally hired a waiter?! Thank goodness, this means we won't have to go get our dishes ourselves anymore!" one on the slightly chubby side couldn't help but delightedly exclaim.
"Or wipe the table clean after eating," the shortest one added.
"Or bring back the plates to the kitchen." the last one added.
The three purple valley outer sect disciples spoke in a complaining yet amiable tone, but Martin could tell at a glance that they were not kidding.
With a twitching eye couldn't help but wonder 'what kind of black heart business is this old man running? And yet with such crappy conditions, on top of being a restaurant in the middle of nowhere, they still get customers?!'
As he was in his own thoughts the group stood in front of the newly added wooden sign.
"where do I apply? My cup size is definitely less than C, and I guarantee that I'm female." the slightly chubby male said in the most feminine tone he could voice.
"Stop embarrassing us! Will you take responsibility if the senior gets angry and kicks us out?" one of them said after hitting him on the head.
Martin led them in, gave them a table of four, and gave them the menu. The menu consisted of; the most numerous spiritual beasts within a five-kilometre radius of the restaurant (at mid to peak rank two), some exotic insects, rarer more powerful monster beasts at qi transformation realm, a few at foundation establishment, and the customer can bring their own ingredients and request they be cooked.
Jeffery reminded as he made his way to the kitchen, "You can only order a meal within your cultivation level range, otherwise it would be troublesome to get rid of corps if you can't digest the meal."
The three didn't react, it seemed like it wasn't their first time here. His reminder was probably for Martin to know what to say.
As they looked at their menus deciding what they want to eat, Martin heard light footsteps coming from the stairs leading to the bedrooms. Turning his head he found Jane who was wearing a very baggy sweaty already dragging her feet to the counter.
'Why does that girl always look so tired… or is it lazy?' he wondered.
"Give us one serving each of; Rabbit and dumplings, grilled and marinate rabbit - spicy, and pot-roasted rabbit," said the slightly chubby outer disciple of the purple valley sect.
'Well, rabbit does cost the least out of all upper initial elemental qi meals' Martin silently remarked before flashing them a smile and passing the order to Jeffery.
While waiting for the meal to be cooked, out of curiosity, Martin listened in on the conversation of the sect disciples.
From them, he learnt that this forest is named the Millennium forest. Why? Every thousand years, give or take 2 years, a forbidden land in form of a floating island descends and becomes open for the public to visit loot.
Well, even though they said public, Martin was keenly aware that the island would probably be monopolized by the local sects in one way or another.
The three outer sect disciples are part of the group sent by the purple valley sect, to keep a watch and send word if the forbidden land shows any signs of opening.
"Sigh, it has been 3 years already. Is that island not going to descend at all? I miss my girlfriend" Robert, the slightly chubby fellow complained.
"What girlfriend? Have been gone from the sect so long that you've become delusional? She is just your crush!" Conrad, the short fellow ridiculed.
As they talked another group of customers walked in. This group consisted of women, they were outer sect disciples of the blue-moon sect. He guided them to a table and took their orders. The group ordered more varied meals that cost more than what the purple valley disciples each. They even ordered what Martin thought were overly priced drinks.
When he sent the order to Jeffery, he found the meals of the purple valley disciple ready to be delivered. Walking the plates to their table, Martin swallowed his constantly building up saliva with every step. When he delivered the plates to the table the disciples had to pry them from his unwilling hands.
That was when Martin knew that this new Job of his, was not going to be easy.
