Chapter twelve
Inside the room, Suzuka began to gather a bunch of essential items for the trip.
"I'll need this. And that. Oh and let me not forget this!" She said as she merrily went about her affair. Gydion casually walked in behind her, taking stock of the place that'll become his home.
~A single bed and desk accompanied by a dressing screen and a closet. This is definitely a really cozy little room.~ He thought to himself as he inhaled through his nose, taking in the scent.
~Smells like nature as well.~ He took another step into the room, listening to how the floors produced the all too familiar rustic quaking of wood in a tavern.
~Must be an aesthetic choice.~ He thought to himself as he knew that these floors were actually far more sturdy than even the most rigid metal.
~Now the only thing I can see being a problem is the size of this room. It being only eight-hundred by six-hundred feet only affords me… maybe some privacy for a bed? I suppose I could put up walls and the like with permission from the Grand Magus.~
While he was mapping out how he could make the space livable for him, Suzuka had finished packing a medium-sized travel bag with all her necessities and set it at the foot of her bed. She ran behind her changing screen and began rummaging through her clothes.
All Gydion could see was clothing flying up, over, and behind the screen as Suzuka casually tossed what she didn't want aside.
~She really is like a beast. Look at this mess she is making…~ He thought to himself. He really wasn't looking forward to his future serving this brat.
Eventually, the clothing launching stopped.
~I guess she's done?~
Suzuka walked out from behind the screen in a purple onesie that only had holes for her face and horns. She then jumped onto her bed, lying flat with her hands sitting behind her head.
"Gydion."
He looked at her with a mildly annoyed face. To him, she was flaunting how comfortable she was right now and he didn't care for it.
"What?"
Suzuka looked over at him and pointed at the closet.
"You can take the other half of the room for yourself. I have a bean bag in the closet that you could use for the time being until you get situated."
"Mmm." All his possessions were still at his fathers' domain anyway so he decided to take her up on the offer. He walked over and around the clothing that she had thrown around earlier, making sure to pay as little attention to it all as possible. He was not interested in seeing a six-year-olds wardrobe. After a bit of digging in the closet, the bean bag revealed itself. He pulled it out and carried it over to the barren side of the room.
~Well… Since I have no need for grooming or anything of the sorts I'll just get some shut-eye until tomorrow.~
"Gydion?" Suzuka called out.
He rolled his eyes and returned the call
"What?"
"Come over here and talk with me a bit."
Gydion did not want to at all, but she was his Mistress now so he decided it was best that he do so. He picked up the bean bag and carried it over to the side of her bed.
================================================================
I'm exhausted! Today has been so jam-packed with things that I just need to unwind! Which is exactly what I'm gonna do!
I spread my legs out and stared up at the ceiling on my bed, thinking back on the day's past events.
The most surprising one was definitely Gydion. No way in a million years did I ever think that what happened earlier would have actually happened. Still don't to be honest! I mean, just look at him, skulking over there in the corner of the room.
I mean I know he really hates me (Honestly I'm understating it, but whatever) but does he have to be so brooding? If he acted how he was in front of Grandma more often then maybe he would have never gotten himself into this situation in the first place! Oh, not to say I know why he was ordered to serve me or anything.
Maybe I'll call him over.
"Gydion."
"What?"
Jeez, he really is just hella rude. I've half the mind to slap him silly, but alas I can't, or rather, I shouldn't. Honestly, he'd probably stab me then for real if I did that and I don't really wanna die just yet soooooo.
"Come over here and talk with me a bit."
He came over with bean bag in hand and sat down a few feet away from my bed. He slouched over, leaning on his knees with his elbows as he stared at me. I turned over onto my side and stuck one of my hands underneath my pillow to give it a bit of extra height.
"So I'm curious. What did you do that caused you to have to come "serve" me? I know you're a bit of a troublemaker, but I feel like this punishment is rather extreme."
It's been bugging me the entire time since earlier today. I just rolled with it then because I was kinda enjoying the moment. It's not often that you get to lounge with nature like that. I'd know since I've got this massive repertoire of memories that say as much!
Gydion looked at the ground and pushed out his lower lip, seemingly thinking about his response. After a moment he looked back up at me and said.
"I don't want to tell you."
Hah…? What the heck type of answer is that? I curled my tongue inside my mouth as I closed my eyes in thought. I feel like the past me has run into this type of person before. Y'know, the stubborn and cold types that are actually super loyal and warm once you get to know them.
Hey past me.
…
…
Past me? Helloooo?
…
…
I'M TALKING TO YOU! HELLO?!?
Suddenly, inside my mental scape, a door opened. My mental personification also came into being without me even having to think about it. Honestly, this looked like that same suspect door from earlier.
"Gonna come in?" A man's voice said from inside the door. My personification furrowed her brow and cautiously approached. I was not about to run into that same dirty situation again!
My personification slipped in and saw a stunning sight. A mountain peak sitting above the clouds during a sunset.
"It's beautiful isn't it?" The male voice called out from right next to me.
I looked to the side and saw a modest man sitting atop a rock dressed in traveling gear. In his hands he had a computer…? I've never seen one really but my memories provided that much at least. I called out to him.
"Are you me? Like past me?"
He looked up at me and began to stroke a non-existent beard.
"Heh heh. I sure am!"
I chuckled a bit and walked fully through the door. It was weird having a face to the voice. We've only ever talked directly to one another.
"How is all this possible?" I asked him. If he could have done this before then maybe I wouldn't have had to go through years of dealing with assimilation migraines.
The old me closed the computer and set it aside, swiveling toward me on the rock with his hips. He took off his headgear which revealed his curly shoulder-length brown hair. Though he still had goggles on, he looked at me and smiled a smile so bright that I thought I was going to go blind. I light dimmed as soon as he started to speak thankfully though.
"It's all thanks to your hard work today actually. That whole visualization thing? I decided to utilize that and this was the result!" He said as he enthusiastically raised his hands in gesture for me to look around.
I nodded just to let him know that I heard him. I wasn't too interested in this space as I was still having a whole conversation in reality.
"That's awesome. Really it is, but I just wanted to ask for some advice. There is this Fairy kid I'm talking to with a real stubborn attitude and I wanted to know if you had any ideas on how I could perhaps befriend him."
The other me once again began to stroke a non-existent beard. He got up from the rock he was sitting on and wrapped one of his arms around my shoulders, taking me down the mountain path.
"If I told you that, how would you grow?" He said as he looked down at me with those sage eyes grandpas have when they talk to their grandchildren.
I crinkled my nose in confusion and looked up at him, lightly jabbing him in the side with my elbow.
"What? We're literally the same person." I said as I spun out of his grasp.
The other me made like an actor and dramatically fell over, holding his side.
"You and I are linked… but you are of this world… You still have time to grow into your own person… Live…! For me!"
Aaaand then he played dead.
A little annoyed that he wouldn't help me, I ran over to jump on him, but everything went black and I suddenly found myself looking back at Gydion.
What just happened? Did that asshole really just kick me out of my own mind? Oooh, I'm so going to have to figure out how to get him back.
Gydion rolled his shoulders and sleepily fluttered his eyes.
Guess he is tired, though, in truth, I don't know why Fairies get tired or eat or… really do anything that humans do. I should ask sometime.
"I see. Well, I won't press you about it. Is there anything you wanted to ask me?"
Gydion rapidly blinked as I spoke to him, seemingly fighting off sleep.
"Huh? Oh, no. I'm going"
Gydion picked up the bean bag and went back to the empty side of the room.
That wasn't very successful… I guess I'll try in the morning when we set out.
I reached my right hand out and pressed it against the wall, triggering the light to go out.
*Yawn* I hope that… things go… better with him tomorrow.
