The demon, although a little surprised, adapts to the situation quickly and using it's left hand this time, nails me in the side. "Well that was for nothing" I think to myself as I fly back across the battlefield once more.
As I skid across the ground on my back, my clothes in shreds, I look up at the sky, it's beautifully clear, not a cloud in sight.
So nice.
I hear a groan from a little ways away but I ignore it. A second groan. I look in the direction it is coming from a little annoyed.
My eyes widened as I saw what was happening, Bones and Willie were waking up. My mind floods with all the memories I had shared with them both. I feel a sudden burst of energy, the power of friendship!
Never mind it was the demon kicking me in the side. "That was a cheap shot you ass" I groaned as I stood up holding my side, the spear still in my grip.
It just chuckles at the comment "I could say the same thing for you with that water trick, but I won't let that happen again, you will die right here and now".
Wait, that demon got that water from somewhere. I try to remember everything I saw when I was still on the cliffside. Oh, I remember! There was a small pond just behind where Wille and Bones were tied up!
All that I say in return to the demon's retort is "wonderful". Everyone surrounding the battle quickly returns to their laughing.
Then, all of a sudden, the racket being made by the demons dies out in an instant. The previously thought certain winner of the battle has a large rock-like spike coming out it's chest.
All of the demons turn to me just to see a face with just as much surprise as the rest of them. I slowly turn my gaze over to where Bones is tied up on the ground, and when my eyes meet the absolutely bone chilling stare coming from him I completely freeze.
I have never seen him this mad.
Even Willie who is still not fully conscious is ruing what might happen next.
All the dust laying harmlessly on the rocky ground, starts to slowly hover. The dust begins to move to one area not too far away from me. It begins to condense into a hollow, half circle type shape. This draws all of the demon's attention away from Bones who begins using a sharp stone he found nearby to cut through his bindings surprisingly fast. Seeing this I have but one thought "damn, the plot armor this guy is wielding right now".
The dust started to make a more obvious object, a helmet, Bones stands up putting all attention back on him. Even I, who has been training nonstop with Bones for almost half a year, haven't seen this 'gladiator helm' before.
It was a pitch black helmet that seemed like someone stole some spartan's helmet and spray painted it black. Yet it didn't have the Mohawk thing on top which was slightly disappointing.
The color didn't make any sense either due to it being made from dirt which was a pretty obvious brown at the moment. It was so ridiculously black too, it was similar to what I would assume a black hole to look like… if you you could see it of course. Trying to suck all the light away from everything around it.
It was depressing to look at. It felt as if it was stealing away my will to live, to just give up except death.
I soon snapped out of my trance when Bones gave me a piercing look of 'pull your shit together and get ready'.
He then put his hand out as if he was about to use the force and yeet his enemies into oblivion.
As soon as his hand reached its final height and he stopped lifting it into the air. The helmet shot through the air so fast it was like it disappeared and reappeared in Bones' outstretched hand
He then did the something nobody could have predicted.
He placed the helmet on his head.
As soon as the helmet was on his head he and the helmet completely vanished. This was definitely a surprising development but the fact that a horrifying black helmet just came out of the ground was not losing in terms of unexpectedness.
It might seem as though this whole thing took a while, but in reality it's only been about a minute since Bones woke up.
The next thing I know my spear disappears from my hand and demon blood floods the ground. Then I remember something I read about hades, the cyclops specially made a helmet for him known as the cap of invisibility which completely hides him from any and all senses.
A ridiculously op ability if you ask me, and his weapon disappears too? That's absolutely unreal, this thing has to have a bunch of drawbacks right? Otherwise he's completely unstoppable.
Anyway, that must be what Bones is using right now. He stole my spear though, what will I use to fight? *realisation*.
Oh my god I am such an idiot, the pool of water! I also need to free Willie.
As I was about to go into action apparently it was a rather popular idea, so two random blue demons also decided to run at me.
Moving into a wide stance (easy nut shot - Willie) I slowly lifted my hands above my head as if I was commanding the earth to rise. As I was doing this all of the water in the pond started rising into the air.
Ripping my hands back down to my chest, the water followed my actions and slammed into the backs of the oblivious blue demons currently sprinting at me.
I had aimed for the head and upper back area of the demons so with the added momentum of them booking it toward me pushed their heads hard into the ground. The force snapped one of the demons horns off just as had hoped.
The water flowed outward from the impact over the rocky surface. Spreading out and around the feet and some dead bodies littering the ground.
I also noticed it moving around what seemed like invisible feet. This made me realize a loophole in the helmet's ability. It doesn't make you stop existing completely. It only seemed like that because the ground was completely rock.
Some of the demons noticed this so to assist my friend I shoved one of my hands into the air. This created a large sphere of bloody water above the makeshift arena, the force of the water shooting into the sky seemed to have pulled at least a dozen of the purple demons into the air.
They obviously couldn't stay there so they fell back down to the ground. They didn't die from the fall but they were instantly targeted by Bones who continued on his massacre.
Without waiting anymore time I ran over to the broken horn and snatched it off the ground effectively gaining a weapon.
Without any hesitation, as the nearer demon was standing back up I stabbed down with as much force as I could muster at where the demon's Carotid Artery should be.
Thankfully there was an artery there and so the demon started losing blood fast.
Yanking the horn out of its neck didn't help the situation as blood starts flowing out of the hole in its neck.
The loss of blood isn't nearly a fast as I had hoped and the demon somehow completely ignored the fact I had stabbed it vitally, and tried to impale me with the spike helpfully located on its elbow.
The spike is more of a scraggly looking dagger emerging from its elbow. So although I wasn't impaled, I gained a new and large gash spanning from my armpit to my sternum.
I now have to fight against two blue demons while being injured and only having an unwieldy horn as my weapon. I nearly started crying at my odds of survival.
I then had an ingenious and sadistic idea.
I did a twirling motion with my index finger splitting off two smaller blobs of water from the giant orb in the sky. I repeated the motion, and simultaneously the water blobs found their way into the mouths of my opponents, and right into their trachea.
A smug look in my face showed itself, I had just won. But soon my hopes and dreams were crushed as once again the demons didn't seem to give any f*cks and continued beating me up.
