The french toast bread pudding only needed about 45 minutes to bake, so I took out Lilith's standing hand mirror from my inventory and decided to take a look at the tattoo on my back for the first time. I took off my shirt and looked at my back with the hand mirror and from what I could see the tattoo was very realistic and looked a lot like Lilith's wings. The only difference was that there was a little string with a grey feather at the end attached to the end of one of my wings in the tattoo.
I decided to take a look, so I thought of taking my wings out and the little string and feather were not present. Although my wings were quite expansive when unfolded, nearly double the length of my arms outstretched in wingspan.
I put my wings and the mirror away and put my shirt back on and decided to play with my illusion magic next, since I really had a bad experience with dream magic last time and I think I need to be sleeping for it to work anyways.
I thought it would be easier to use a memory as my first attempt for illusion magic, so I visualized my mother sitting on her rocker in front of the hearth reading a story with me on her lap at five years old. I then imagined projecting that image from my mind onto the space in front of me and suddenly I saw my mother again for the first time in seven years, even though it wasn't real. Regardless of whether it was real or not, the image brought tears to my eyes and as the first tear fell the image broke and I tried to remember how long I had been standing there, since I was now a little exhausted.
Maybe since using that magic was soo exhausting I'm going to hold off on using illusion magic for hiding my horns and just rely on it in the case of emergencies, especially since horns are one of the first things that people are told to look for when identifying demons and demon-kin, or those that are possessed. Either way it wouldn't be good to be found out, especially with war looming and the selections coming up.
I was interrupted from my musings when the timer for the bread pudding went off and I set it out to cool. I didn't think that I had spent soo long testing out my magic, but I guess it happened.
Not even ten minutes later, my sister arrived right on time with Silv, Beut and my friend Jacob, who was also Silv's older brother.
"Hey Serin, it's been a while since I last saw you. Why haven't you come by the Grove to hang out with us in a while? Sara has definitely missed you and I know you must be anxious to show off your power.", Jacob said when he walked in.
The Grove was a popular hangout spot at the edge of the Warren's grove of peach trees. My friends liked to hang out there but I honestly hadn't been out there in quite a while, and ever since the Archbishop's visit it just kind of slipped my mind.
"Well I'm sure you came over for something other than inviting me out", I said to Jacob jokingly. I held the bread pudding in front of his nose and said, "Rather wasn't it for this". Similar to my sister this guy was also ruled by his stomach so he was as easy to read as ever especially when his face turned dumb looking at the food in my hands longingly.
"Yeah yeah Serin! Just give us the food already!", my sister interrupted my teasing and I relented, but didn't forget to remind her.
"Hands", pointing down to her hands and she nodded while her friends followed her over to the sink to wash their hands, having spent enough time around Ella to know this particular habit of mine. I flicked Jacob in the forehead to bring him back to reality and he quickly rushed over to wash his hands as well.
"And you don't even have to worry because I always wash my hands", I weirdly thought to myself. Yeah, I can't tell if I was like this before or if Lilith is warping me in unexpected ways. Yeah I don't know if I've always talked to myself as 'you' but whatever.
Ella and Jacob (surprisingly) came over to me with their plates stretched out in front of them waiting for me to dish them out some food and Silv and Beut followed shortly after. I gave them their food and shortly after I heard in my head.

Just as the alert went off in my head I heard a moan from Jacob as he took a bite of the bread pudding.
"Mmmhmm... Serin this is soo good! You have to give me more later!".
If I knew that I could have fulfilled this task so easily earlier I don't know if this would have worried me soo much yesterday, but I was also dealing with a time constraint then as well.
This was followed by a grumpy Lilith saying, [That's cheating! That's not a fun way at all!]
I mean I really think I am starting to understand the way that she thinks a little bit more and honestly I'm not sure if it bodes too well for me but I'll figure out how to handle it somehow.
I also seemed to have fed four people as well, so I sent Ella to help Beut and Silv home with some leftovers, since I didn't trust Jacob not to eat all of it before getting back to share it with the rest of his family. Yeah that guy is like a dragon when it comes to food and for some reason he didn't want to go home yet. Ehh... well it doesn't hurt to hang out with a friend from time to time. I mean he's only acting a little weird.
