Chapter 6 - System Announcement

Roughly three months had passed since Luther's rebirth.

He eventually came into terms with his present circumstance and instead of sulking about it, it was much better to concoct a plan for his future.

Given his limited freedom due to the infantile body that shackled him to do in depth information gathering, his only option was through visual observation.

He had found out that this world's language was similar to that of earth's universal language, English. Although he still had to confirm if there exist other continents with different ethnicities and whether diversity in cultural tradition and practices was a commonplace.

Nonetheless, his starting line was decent, and from the looks of it, the family he currently belong seemed to be high on the social strata pyramid.

Over the course of time, his impatience only grew by the day as it heavily weighed down on him.

Luciel had a mental age of an adult trapped in an infant's body and being fully conscious of the passage of time with nothing to do was eating away his sanity.

Most of his time was spent indulging in his mother's bosom, bathed in her alluring scent, day in and day out. All of the nutrition he could get was through breastfeeding, so he religiously imbibed all the nourishment coming from her mother's chest, not wasting a single drop.

After all, it was a surefire strategy to thrive for a healthy body. He was all alone in this world, any benefits no matter how trivial would eventually produce returns, one way or another.

Despite her mother's sensational beauty, Luciel forbid himself from having immoral thoughts. He was not an ingrate who would reciprocate kindness with malice. Just the thought alone filled him with repulsion.

He may have been broken inside after being mercilessly toyed by fate, but his core values remained intact.

Although it was an entirely different story with the young maidens hurtling around him whose important task was to ensure Luciel would receive the optimal care possible.

Most of the maids and attendants were well endowed with unique facial features and toned bodies, the worst of them would still be a notch higher than your average looking woman in earth.

More often than not, his manly instincts would prevail over his conscience leading him to involuntarily direct intense gazes at the young women. He would then avert his eyes as quick as a grandmaster swordsman drew his blade and act like a virtuous monk, unmoved by worldly affairs.

'I can't have them get the wrong impression of me, can I?', Luciel reminded himself solemnly.

On Luciel's seventh month, amidst his upbeat mood while feasting on his mother's fine bosom, a mechanical voice out of nowhere encroached upon his consciousness and delivered a string of messages;

Upon reading the neatly organized wall of digitized information in his mind, he was astonished beyond words.

'There it is! I thought I'd never receive any kind of system after coming to this world...so those cliché novels featuring transmigration and rebirth with systems really aren't just a product of imagination, after all....', Luciel thought excitedly, ready to uncover whatever features the system held.

As if to dampen his cheery mood, the mechanical voice again sounded in his ears.

[Clarification, the 'system' your are referring is not a unique mechanic exclusive only to a few. Every living entity, upon fulfilling the conditions set by the laws of this world, such as attaining self awareness, and reaching mental and physical threshold that could resonate with the World's pronouncement, shall receive the same system, regardless of their origin, race, elemental affinity, physical prowess and talent.]

[Typically, a normal infant would receive the World's pronouncement starting from age eighteen months and above but there are rare cases where unique individuals or entities are born with special gifts and traits which allowed them to receive the World's Pronouncement much earlier.

An example would be an newborn dragon who far surpassed a human in terms of strength and magic capacity, which would enable them to receive the World's pronouncement almost instantly after being born. And a Transmigrator, although the probability of their appearance is infinitely low, will receive the World's Pronouncement simultaneously upon their arrival.]

'That's one detailed explanation, Mr...or Ms. World? but that doesn't really explain all the information displayed in the user interface.'

Luciel then began analyzing the information in front of him, 'Luciel Vonbert Mathias, hmm...sounds like a noble's name during the Victorian era in earth. Does that mean I really was reborn in a period where science and technology has yet to flourish, not to mention the age of information which brought colossal upgrades to the people lives...'

'If I were a genius scientist in my previous life then I would certainly pioneer earth shattering inventions. Or a prodigy in political laws and governance, spearheading life changing reformations.'

'Sadly, I'm neither.' Luciel's heart then sank thinking about his future prospect, 'I'm just a loser who had an incredible bad luck and got cheated...cheated'.

As Luciel recalled his past lover, Elen, he could not help but have conflicted emotions. He hated her so much for what she had done yet an inexplicable sense of nostalgia filled him.

It is as if there was more to Elen's actions than just mere infidelity. A motive, perhaps. He then began recollecting the time she spent with Elen, her countenance which often had a shade of gloom, her drifting thoughts, her forced smile, her lust for money, her desire for promotion.

But Luciel could not piece everything together, it seemed that a vital piece of the puzzle was missing and only Elen knew where to find it.

'Stop it, no point dwelling in the past...'. He then mentally shook his head from side to side to disperse the futile thoughts clouding over him. 'No matter the motivation behind her actions, I just hope she had achieved her goals.'

'It's not like our paths will intersect again in a critical junction of our lives, a fateful reunion mandated by fate, like those in fictional stories...ha ha..', Luciel lampooned with a bittersweet feeling that tugged at his heart.

After clearing his mind, Luciel then renewed his focus and attentively scanned at his user interface once again.

'This is actually reminiscent of an RPG game. Level..0? I thought we're starting at one. Well, whatever..'

'I wonder what subclass is, probably one of those jobs related to crafting such as blacksmithing, sewing, and cooking..hmm...I'm quite skilled with cooking, I hope there's something like a cook or a chef subclass. At the very least, I can fill my stomach when everything goes south.'

As Luciel's thought went a little off tangent, his attention was caught by something he did not quite expect to be there.

'...Titles, huh...let me see. Otherworldly Drifter, it sounds intimidating but what's with this uninspired description!', as Luciel continued reading the effects of the title, he could not help but feel elated.

'....Are you serious? No matter how you look at it, no way in the name of Mother Mary this isn't an overpowered ability.'

'Doubling experience gain means I'll be always ahead from the rest in terms of level unless I slack off. And trifecta wielding three elements, I'm not really sure if it's anything impressive since I have no basis for comparison.

'Anyway, that's a really good start. For now, let's move to the next. The Unforgivable One-...why do I get an ominous feeling just from reading the name...', 'Oh! lost lamb~...I doubt these flavor text held much meaning, anyway. Let's see the effects.'

'Heretic Magic...I really am right, this Title reeks nothing but trouble! Let's pretend this stuff did not exist for now. I have a bad feeling the moment I make use of it, things will get problematic.'

Following his intuition, Luciel decided to keep his hands off from anything related to Heretic magic until he obtained enough information about it, he then eventually came to the skills tab section.
