Zenab's POV
"What kind of trouble could there possibly be? I, as the king, hold the power to choose my queen as I see fit. What's to stop me from indulging in the company of anyone who offers themselves to me?" I boldly declared. Nancy's gaze remained fixed on me, her thoughts concealed behind her quiet demeanor. I could discern the unspoken question in her eyes.
I had resolved to guard my heart against entanglements with anyone, now more than ever. Love, it seemed, was not destined to find a home within me. Given my exalted position as the most influential figure in the realm, I had come to expect that people would only approach me for ulterior motives.
Gently, I pressed a kiss to Nancy's forehead and took my leave, fully aware that she lingered, her eyes trained on my retreating form. I had no desire to see her burdened with worry on my behalf.
