Chapter 1 - Summer day in the mortal realm

The sunshine shines bright, lighting up my bedroom through the window. I can only hear the chickens crow pleasantly and the breeze sends me the chill to my face. It is a pleasant morning in the mortal realm.

I yawned and stretch my arms and legs. The smell of the Conjoined Flowers makes me energized. I thought of taking a bath but I was too lazy for it because it was cold. I take a look at myself in the mirror. I look the same when I started to become a cultivator. Yet sadly, my stage got stuck to Soul Wandering Stage, just like my great grandfather.

If you asked me how I ascended to heaven even though I got stuck on this stage, I forgot about it long ago. I figured as much when my father back then is against my wish to become a cultivator. It was a summer day when I decided that, and now I regret it because I ended up being alone. Well, who cares. I am free to do whatever I do whatever I want.

I am kinda hungry and I am craving for fried rice. Fortunately I am wealthy enough to buy some ingredients. I am running a diner of course. I will never get old as long as I cultivate and keep myself healthy by eating healthy food. I prepared all the ingredients needed to make the fried rice dish.

Rice, carrots, peas, shrimps, and eggs. This is gonna be delicious. I crack 3 eggs and pour it to the bowl. I beat it with my fork and added salt afterwards. I set it aside and I prepared frying the vegetables. First I put my pan on the stove with fire under it and put oil in it. I made sure that the oil is evenly spread around the pan and keep heating it until the oil smoke. I love the smell of the oil.

I added the carrots and peas in the pan. The vegetable sizzle beautifully as I cooked them for about 2 minutes. I get the shrimp next and wow, the smell from the sea smells soothing. I put them inside the pan and cooked them for half a minute. For the taste, a generous amount of salt is necessary. I am very happy that I cooked the vegetables. I set them aside from the bowl and I prepared the rice that is already cooked and cooled down.

Rice is our staple food. I like dishes that has rice with them. I like eating them with boiled duck eggs but this time I am making fried rice for my breakfast. I heat up the pan again and did the same thing as I did with the vegetables, heating up the oil. I put the rice on it and begin to stir and toss it for about 2 minutes. I am very skilled at cooking.

I poked a hole in the middle of the rice and pour the egg mixture that I set aside earlier. The smell of fresh eggs tingles my nose, making my hopes up that this dish will be delicious. I did the same thing as earlier, stirring and tossing the rice until the eggs blended well together. The rice turned as yellow as gold. My eyes lit up and I smile, very happy about my creation.

Well I forgot to mention this, my fried rice won't be complete without meat. It is the primary source of strength that keeps our body strong and tough. I decided to use pork meat for this, which I conveniently prepared last night because I was unable to use it for the other dish. I fried it together with rice for a minute and after that I add the vegetables, shrimps, soy sauce, and pepper and keep stirring it until it was well cooked.

I immediately get my bowl and serve my dish in it. The result is astonishing. I created fried rice with pure effort, although it was an easy dish to make. But still with this dish, I will feel full. The smell of the eggs, vegetables and meat makes me drool and the golden color of the rice shines brighter. I wanted to eat it so bad but I keep admiring it for a few seconds before I start eating it.

I sit on my chair and pick up my wooden spoon with my left hand. I grabbed the warm bowl with my right hand and started to scoop the rice. I slowly bring the spoon to my mouth, careful not to waste any rice and eat it. I slowly chew the rice, savoring it. When I swallowed the rice, my mind went to heaven. It is a total paradise for me. How can a simple dish be as good as the fruits from the heaven?

The answers may be because I grew up eating rice during my childhood. During the summer day, my mother will serve fried rice on our table at home. Me and my family eat our meal happily. My fried rice is nothing compared to my mother. Someday I will replicate the taste of my mother's cooking and share it with others. The reason I wanna run a diner because I want a peaceful life just like I did back home.
