"You seem to be a little disturbed, Eve. Did something happen?" Earl asked as he rode the carriage towards the council building. He noticed she was extremely silent since morning. He tried to speak to her at the breakfast table but her replies made it obvious of her lack of interest in the topic.
"Nothing," Evelyn replied, shaking her head as if he could see her.
Earl let out a sigh and said, "If there's anything bothering you, you can always speak to me."
She looked at him bewilderingly and thought whether to ask him or not. "What will you do if the person whom you are familiar with suddenly starts acting strangely?" She asked him, but not revealing whom she was talking about.
"Who is acting strangely with you, Eve?" He asked.
"It's...just a general thought. Nothing personal," she replied with a shrug.
