Chereads / Hunter in Rayborn / Chapter 14 - 14

Chapter 14 - 14

Christian didn't notice when Aileen got up and left her food unattended. He was busy munching on the eggs. Her heart was beating wildly. Was he going to talk about last night? Did he tell his friends? She stopped and watched as his friend got up and patted on the seat beside Roy. Gulping down, Aileen took it and faced the empty tray. His friend bend down to say something in Roy's ear, and she caught the words. "Go easy on her," he said and left whistling. Aileen looked at Roy, trying to feel confident. "I will be your hunting teacher. Mr. Burham will introduce everyone after breakfast." His voice was slow and clear. He bent towards her eye level, their foreheads inches apart. Aileen noticed his pink lips were cracked. "I don't want any disturbances in my class. Is that clear?" he said, staring right at her, not blinking once. This man was scary. Aileen noted, forgetting that she ever thought of him as cute.

But there was something about his smell that kept Aileen still. He smelled like rain. It was unusual, but it calmed her. Roy straightened up and went back to his breakfast. Taking this as an order. Aileen quickly got up and left the table, breathing out slowly. Why was he so intense? Was everyone like him? But he didn't tell anyone or else they would look at you right now. The voice spoke to her. He just wanted to warn me about not making a mess. Aileen turned around to look at Roy, but the boy was smiling at a woman who had taken her spot. She was pretty, with a bob cut and a round face. Sighing, Aileen returned to her seat.

Breakfast ended shortly, with Aileen almost finishing her food. Knowing what was about to come, she didn't want to throw up. Trays were picked up, tables cleared, and moved slightly towards the raised podium in the front where Henry Barham was getting ready for another speech. "Where'd you go?" Christian whispered, leaning in her. "Just met someone I knew." She lied. She wasn't ready to tell him about her problems. She didn't know if she could trust anyone here. Henry tapped the mic, and the speakers ringed. "Let's begin. Let me receive you again on your first day. I will introduce you to the teachers, and then you can start with your first training session." He stopped and covered the mic with his palm. And whispered something in the young man's ear who was standing behind him.

"Tara Young, your defense teacher." Everyone clapped when the same woman who was talking to Roy stepped up, smiling and waving. She looked young. "Lionel Betsy, Your Poison teacher," a middle-aged man with blonde hair walked up the podium and stood beside Tara. "Poison?" Aileen asked Christian. He nodded and replied. "They teach you which plants can be useful to you and harmful to the enemy." My father is a master in this subject." He said proudly. "Roy Campbell, Your Hunting teacher." And Aileen saw Roy walking slowly towards the podium, unsmiling and standing beside Lionel. His eyes immediately landed on Aileen. She looked away.

There were two more teachers Henry introduced, but all Aileen could think about was Roy. He looked handsome. She had never had time to properly look at him. Now hiding among the crowd, she watched him. Tara and Lionel looked frail beside his toned body, his hair was neatly combed, his eyes stood out against his red and black uniform.

"Mr. Cambell looks like he will kill anyone who says no to his training." Christian scoffed, and Aileen couldn't help but agree with him. "Right. Will each of the tables stand up and follow their respective teachers through the door? Our class begins in 20 minutes." Henry checked his wristwatch and turned off the mic. Christian was standing on tiptoe, trying to figure out which class we had first. Aileen checked her phone, and it was 6:10 am. Suddenly Christian jumped with joy. "What is it?" she asked. "We get the hot teacher," he said, grinning. Aileen wondered who that was, but the results started walking, and she followed them out the door.

Aileen reached a big soundproof hall. The walls were dark gray, and she saw two big cupboards with different weapons. Suddenly, the teacher walked over and stood in front of the cupboard, and all the recruiters made a circle around the teacher. Aileen saw who Christian was referring to. It was Tara Young.
