"It's alright. Take the chauffeur with you," he said. "Yes. Thank you so much." "Alright. I will hang up now," he said before ending the call.
"Did he say anything?" asked Daiyu the moment she dropped the phone and she shook her head. "He just wanted to know how I am," she replied. "See? I told you." "So are you coming with me home?" she asked. "I guess yes. I have taken long without seeing your father," she replied.
On reaching the house, they found Tang Rong in the living room reading news papers.
"You," he said on seeing them and dropped the newspapers on the table.
"Surprise!" said Tang Ning who walked to him before squatting and embraced him in a hug.
"I missed you so much," she said and they pulled away. "Me too. You didn't tell me that you were coming. Daiyu, it's been so long," he said.
"Because we would have ruined the surprise. Yes it has been long indeed," she replied taking a seat.
"I hope everything is alright," he said looking at the both of them.
"Yes. We just came to see you and to also give you this," she said placing a shopping bag on the table.
"Whose is it?" he asked. "Yours of course," she replied. "What is it?" he asked again. "Check and see," she replied with a wide grin and he checked in the bag before pulling out a brown fur coat. "You got me this?" he asked looking at her and she shrugged her shoulders before saying," I knew how much you wanted it."
"But, it must have cost you a fortune. You used your savings didn't you?" he asked. "You don't have to worry about it. I got it at a very big discount," she lied such that he couldn't drag it too far. "Why don't you try it?" He stood up and wore the coat.
"You look so good in it. Just as I imagined you to be," she said. "Come here," he said stretching his arms and she went in for a hug.
"Thank you so much," he said. "It is nothing. Really," she said.
Daiyu looked at the way the two interacted with each other and she couldn't help but admire them. She wished she had the same relationship with her parents but it was not the case.
On pulling away, she went back to sit and she asked," Where's Moyu?" "I have no idea where she went," he replied and she nodded in understanding. "You look healthier and stronger," she commented. "I told you didn't I?"
"I didn't believe you. I know how you always lie so that I don't get worried. But I am glad to see that you have greatly improved," she said. "I am completely healed. I am even going back to work," he said and she raised her brows. "No way father. You're not completely fine," she said. Just then, the caretaker brought drinks and snacks for them, and placed them on the table. "Trust me I am fine. I am tired of sitting home everyday. I think that also weakens me," he said.
"No father. The doctor told you to quit working." "I know but I feel okay now and perhaps, I also want to be useful," he said and looked at Daiyu then said," Explain to her that I want to be the one to take care of her just like how other fathers do "
Daiyu released a sigh and she looked at Tang Ning helplessly. Tang Ning then picked a drink and took a sip on it before taking a deep breath and she said," Alright father. You can go back to work if it's what makes you happy. But on condition that a doctor should check you first and then approve it. If he says that it is fine then I won't stop you."
"Alright," he said. The three engaged in conversation until it clocked four in the late afternoon. "Excuse me. I will call and check on the kids," said Tang Ning before walking to the side. When she was done, she came back and Daiyu said," I think we should get going."
"Yeah," she replied and looked at her father then said," I have something to talk to you about." "What is it my dear?" he asked.
Daiyu excused herself and went to stand outside to let them talk.
Sitting down next to him, she said," Uh father, I have been thinking about shifting you guys from this place. It isn't safe especially the neighborhood." "I can't leave here," he said. "Why?" "This house holds a lot of memories of your mother and there's no way I can leave it," he said.
Sighing, she said," I understand but it's not safe." "I have always been careful Tang Ning. Let's leave that because I won't agree to it, but hey, you look different." "Different?" "Hmm. You are glowing. There's a twinkle in your eyes. You seem to be extremely happy," he said. "Really?" she asked.
"Of course. I can never be mistaken. Are you perhaps in love?" he asked. "No! Of course not father! How can you think of something like that?" she asked getting up.
"Your reaction proves otherwise though," he said. "I will go now father. I will call you after scheduling an appointment with your doctor," she said and he nodded. "Okay bye father. I love you and take care of yourself. Also, think about what I said," she said before running outside.
By the time Tang Ning reached the Jing household, it was starting to darken. She had a shower and changed into her clothes then sat on her bed before checking her phone. Looking at the time, it was coming to eight and she wondered if Jing Yue was still at work.
Looking at his contact, she wondered if she should give him a call. But then, won't she look so demanding? As she was still looking at the contact contemplating on what she should do, she felt a warm breath fanning her neck and she turned immediately.
