Chapter 24 - Traitor

Chen Zhiguo held Ding Jun's arm, he chuckled. "Mother, yesterday, Little Ling came to our place and said that she wanted to continue her studies, but her family's conditions didn't allow it. Little Jun and I thought that in the future, we will pay for her tuition fees. We can help her continue her studies, and we can also lighten your burden."

Mother Ding was stunned. After she reacted, she frowned and glared at Ding Ling, who was eavesdropping from the corner of her eyes.

This was not a matter of whether she paid her tuition fees or not. If Ding Ling could get married, they would be able to get a portion of the betrothal gift money, and they would also be able to solve the family's current predicament. When she thought about how her father had beaten her up for money, a hint of hatred appeared in mother Ding's eyes, and she gritted her teeth. However, Chen Zhiguo had some status, and he had even come to her house personally to say that he could pay Ding Ling's tuition fees, so she could not say anything.

Mother Ding sighed and looked at Chen Zhiguo. She reluctantly put on a fake smile and said, "Okay, if she can go, then let her go. Thank you, Zhiguo!"

Chen Zhiguo waved his hand. "It's nothing."

Ding Ling excitedly ran out and hugged Ding Jun. She looked at Chen Zhiguo and said gratefully, "Thank you, second sister! Thank you, second brother-in-law!"

Ding Jun sighed lightly. She thought for a moment and then patiently exhorted, "You can repay us by studying well. Also, you have to enter high school to change your fate. Otherwise, sooner or later, you will..."

Before Ding Jun could finish her sentence, she was interrupted by Ding Ling. "Got it, second sister! Thank you!"

Ding Jun sighed and did not say anything else. She knew that Ding Ling was just being perfunctory, but they had done everything they could. The rest was up to Ding Ling.

After Ding Jun and Chen Zhiguo left, Mother Ding looked at the table of ingredients in the kitchen and was in a dilemma. They had already spent too much on research and the cakes they made were not satisfactory, but now they had to sell the cakes that were not delicious. At the very least, they had to get back their capital, right?

Mother Ding sighed and began to make arrangements to sell the cakes in the village. Although the cakes were not as soft and delicious as Ding Jun's, the ingredients were the same and the price was a cent cheaper. Many people chose to buy mother Ding's cakes after hearing about it.

In the Chen family's house, Ding Jun woke up early in the morning and made breakfast for the children. Mother Chen carried the rice bowl and wandered into Ding Jun's courtyard. She sat on a small stool at the side and began to eat.

Seeing this, Ding Jun brought two small bowls of stir-fried vegetables to the table. "Mother, let's eat at the table."

Mother Chen raised her eyebrows, glanced at the vegetables in Ding Jun's hands, and continued to eat in a different direction. "No, you guys eat."

Ding Jun's lips curved into a smile. She placed the two small bowls of vegetables on the stone table at the side. Just as she was about to turn around and leave, she heard Mother Chen's next sentence. "Aiyo, this daughter-in-law, she's not considerate."

"She's already married into the family, but her heart is still with her family. How can that be? Why didn't you tell your second brother and third brother's family about the cake recipe that makes money? Why did you tell your family about it? Do you only want your family to earn money?"

Mother Chen was being sarcastic. She did not say anything excessive to criticize, but she was insinuating that Ding Jun was a traitor. Ding Jun was stunned, but she did not refute anything.

The older children understood what she meant and quickly went up to explain, "Grandma, it's not like that."

The eldest, second, and third children went up to her, and the fourth, fifth, and sixth children also went up to listen to the commotion.

"Grandma, my mother didn't tell grandma the recipe. When grandma came to ask for the recipe that day, Mom didn't give it to her, and she even scolded mom."

"That's right, grandma. There are many people outside who want this recipe. They all want to sell the cake to make money. It's inevitable that they have some ideas."

"I heard from my good friends that mother-in-law's cake is not as delicious as ours. It's definitely not the recipe from mom."
