Chapter 9 - Home Run Volleyball

On the beach, the sound of beach volleyball was still incessant, but the number of chairs had increased from two to three.

Li Zhuo looked at the four people playing beach volleyball not far away in boredom.

These four people seemed to only do this one thing every day. Did they really like playing beach volleyball so much?

Counting the days, he had been in Section S for five days, but the guys here rarely did anything except play beach volleyball and lay on the reclining chairs to enjoy the sun.

It was completely different from the prison he had imagined.

At this moment, Armstrong's voice suddenly came from the side. "How about we make a bet?"

'Here we go again...' Li Zhuo thought.

He pursed his lips and said, "no, I don't have any money."

Alsop, who was at the side, said with great interest, "what do you want to bet?"

Seeing that someone was taking up his challenge, Armstrong immediately said excitedly, "let's bet on who will win in their beach volleyball. The bet is one million."

"Okay."

Hearing the words of the two people next to him, Li Zhuo gently fiddled with the sunglasses on his forehead to cover his eyes.

He could not participate in such a gamble between the big shots. Sometimes, he even felt a little speechless.

Could it be that all rich people were like this? For such a boring matter, they could also gamble a million?

Although Li Zhuo was silently criticizing in his heart, Armstrong and Alsop seemed to be very interested in this.

Alsop immediately said, "I bet on Alan and Henry to win."

Armstrong raised his eyebrows and said, "is there any basis for that?"

"No." Alsop smiled and shrugged his shoulders, then took another sip of the cocktail.

Armstrong curled his lips and muttered, "I originally wanted to bet on them to win, but I didn't expect you to beat me to it.

"In that case, I can only bet on Carl and Putnam."

With that, he looked at Li Zhuo, seemingly unwilling to give up. He said, "are you really not going to participate in the bet? Follow my lead and you'll definitely win!"

"I said I don't have that much money," Li Zhuo said impatiently.

"It's okay, I can lend you." Alsop smiled slightly. She seemed to admire Li Zhuo very much.

Li Zhuo lifted up his sunglasses and glanced at the beach volleyball scene not far away.

"Okay, then I'll bet on Henry and Alan too." After saying that, Li Zhuo looked at Armstrong and said, "if we win, you have to pay two million."

Armstrong's breathing slightly stopped, and he said unhappily, "hey, hey, hey, you don't believe in me, the gambling master, but you believe in that woman? This choice is too stupid!"

Li Zhuo shrugged and said indifferently, "from the results of your bets over the past few days, following your bet is really stupid."

In the five days since he came to Section S, Armstrong had wanted to find someone to bet on something almost every moment. This time, he suddenly said that he wanted to bet on volleyball.

The key problem was that this guy had never won a bet before.

Sometimes Li Zhuo even wondered if this guy was really the world's top gambling master?

Armstrong muttered, "I'll make you lose your underwear later." He watched the beach volleyball game attentively.

On the beach, Putnam and Alan were in slightly better shape, while Carl and Henry looked much thinner.

Judging from their physical fitness, the two sides were evenly matched.

However, Li Zhuo was very clear that physical fitness was often the least important thing in this game. These guys would soon complete this beach volleyball game in a 'mess'.

Halfway through the game, Carl suddenly staggered and fell on the beach.

Seeing this scene, Armstrong's eyes lit up. He said in unison with Alsop, "it's starting."

Li Zhuo was watching the farce in front of him through his sunglasses expressionlessly.

At the same time Carl fell, Alan jumped up with a laugh and smashed the volleyball in the air toward the area Carl was guarding.

Obviously, he was going to take this opportunity to score.

However, the moment Alan tried to go for the kill, Putnam took out a folding stick from his sleeve expressionlessly. With a slight shake, the folding stick turned into a long stick.

Putnam held the end of the long stick with both hands and put it on his shoulder. The long stick extended from Putnam's back to two meters away.

At the next moment, Putnam's muscles tensed up. He exerted strength with both arms and suddenly swung the long stick, smashing it toward the volleyball that Alan had thrown at him.

No one knew what the volleyball was made of, but with a bang, the volleyball was whipped by the long stick and immediately flew toward the sea like a baseball.

Putnam raised his left hand to cover his eyes and looked at the volleyball flying far away. He nodded in satisfaction and said, "good shot!"

"Good shot my ass!!"

The corner of Li Zhuo's eyes twitched again.

Even though Li Zhuo had seen Putnam's volleyball playing style countless times, he still could not help but feel like ridiculing it.

"Why does this guy think that sending the volleyball flying with a long stick is a good shot!?"

"Isn't it already out of bounds!!"

"Why does Putnam always use a new way of playing volleyball!!"

"Last time, he even took out his pistol and broke the volleyball!!"

"Is it really possible to win by playing volleyball like this?!"

A series of complaints came out of Li Zhuo's mouth. Alsop covered her mouth and laughed softly as if she already felt that victory was in her grasp.

Only Armstrong also reached out his left hand and placed it above his eyes. While blocking the sunlight, he looked at the volleyball flying toward the surface of the sea and nodded in admiration. "Good shot!"

"Good shot my ass!! Are you going to change the volleyball rules?!"

Armstrong was slightly stunned. He pointed at the volleyball on the surface of the sea that was no longer visible. "I remember it's called a home run, right?"

"Hey, hey, that's baseball, right?! That's baseball you're talking about! Do you really know the rules of volleyball?! This is volleyball, not baseball!"

Li Zhuo was completely shocked.

Could it be that these guys had been playing beach volleyball here for so long and Armstrong still had not figured out the rules?

Just what kind of confidence did this guy have to take the initiative to propose a bet on volleyball?!

Thinking of this, Li Zhuo suddenly became curious about something. He turned his head and asked, "oh right, you said before that they all passed the welcoming ceremony, right?

"I'm very curious. How did they win?"

Armstrong's expression turned ugly when he heard Li Zhuo mention this. It was as if someone had opened a scar on his face.

Alsop, who was at the side, chuckled and said, "everyone wins in a different way.

"Alan stole the card that Armstrong had hidden, so Armstrong couldn't cheat."

"Henry used poison to knock out Armstrong, and won without a fight."

"Although Carl was only a hacker and seemed to know nothing about gambling, his luck was surprisingly good. He could get a big card every time, and even if Armstrong cheated, he couldn't win."

"Putnam used the simplest and most violent method, and directly pointed the gun at Armstrong, and Armstrong also immediately admitted defeat."

Hearing Alsop talk about his dirty deeds, Armstrong's expression became even uglier.

However, he could not refute anything because these were all facts. He could only put down his sunglasses again and cover his eyes to pretend to sleep.

Li Zhuo looked at Alop and asked curiously, "then how did you win?"
