I bought it in a store for halloween. I just liked it and bought it. You have any problem with that?" Dolly lied effortlessly.
It pained her that she had to lie to him like that but if that's what she can do to save herself and her relationship, then so be it.
"No... nothing. Just thought it looked familiar." Evan chuckled to ease the tension gradually building up.
How could he even have assumed that Dolly is the gunman. He's really going crazy and should learn to trust his woman.
Dolly walked closer to him, encircling her arms around his neck, Dolly kissed him on his lips.
She withdrew her lips.
"Familiar in a good way, or bad way?" She furrowed her eyebrows like she really was curious.
"In a good way darling. In a good way." Evan muffled against her neck as he sucked gently on her neck.
He carried her up, Dolly wrapping her legs around his torso as she giggled. Relieved that her secret wasn't discovered and that she had finally succeeded in taking his mind off what happened.
She moaned as Evan kissed her, sucking on her tongue as his hand found way to her firm, round breast.
Few minutes later, their moans echoed in the room as they both satisfied themselves, whispering to themselves affirmation of their love.
****************************
Stephanie was alone on her room, seeing a comic movie, laughing to herself as she munched on her popcorn.
Phoenix, her sister, was the one who recommended the movie to her and she doesn't regret seeing the movie at all.
She was laughing so hard that she started chocking on her popcorn when a hand offered her water.
Almost drinking from the water, she widened her eyes as realization hit her that she was alone.
She slowly turned back to face whoever was it that gave her water and she couldn't be more relieved when she saw that it was Dave.
Dave couldn't contain himself as he busted into laughter. He would pay a million dollar to see that look again.
"You should've seen your face", he said amidst laughs.
"I almost had a panick attack and here you are laughing? Stephanie screamed.
"And how the fuck did you get in?"
Dave slowed down on his laughter and just as he was about to speak, busted into laughter again, earning a glare from Stephanie.
He raised his hand in mock surrender.
"I got here about fifteen minutes ago. I've been knocking on the door, ringing the doorbell but nobody answered."
"I thought something bad had happened and so I used the spare key Dolly gave me in case of emergency. But then I came here and indeed, you were in a state of emergency." He smirked, sitting beside her in the couch.
"Say what now?" Stephanie sipped from the water.
"You were choking. It's an emergency. You could've died." He nagged her.
"But I didn't. It's not the first time of me choking and it probably won't be the last." She gulped the remaining water.
"Where did you even get this water?"
"I wanted water, I wasn't really dehydrated but I felt like I needed water and then went to the kitchen, fetched a cup and when I got here, you were choking. Perfect timing." He snapped his fingers.
The door opened and the duo looked back.
"Mum I want to_" Dolly paused as she saw Dave.
"What are you going here? With my mum?" She feigned anger which both believed.
"I brought in news." Dave answered like a kid being reprimanded for being bad.
Both stood up from the couch.
"Whatever."
Evan came to the room to say goodbye to Stephanie when he saw a familiar face.
"Dave?" He called out surprised.
Dave turned to look at him.
"Evan!"
Dave spread his arms and Evan went to hm, hugging him tight.
"I thought you had died." They released each other.
"Miracles happen. How's Charlie?" Dave asked.
"He's doing really great I must say."
"You both know yourselves?" Dolly inquired.
"Obviously." Dave said, making Dolly roll her eyes.
"And you know him too, well, obviously." Evan said as well.
"He's my father."
"Really?" Evan exclaimed. "Wow. That's great."
"How come you've never talked to me about him?" He enquired.
"It's a long story, one I didn't want to bore you with." She checked her wristwatch. "Aren't you going home anymore?".
"Home can wait. I've met the man who's like a second dad to me. We have a lot to talk about." He smiled while Dave chuckled.
Dave walked towards the door.
"Of course my boy."
He signalled with his hand for Evan to come closer.
"Well, you didn't talk to me about your first dad." Dolly said to Evan, making emphasis on the "first dad" with her hands as she walked to his front, stopping him from going to Dave.
"He doesn't worth the long, boring talk. I don't like talking about him." He tried to walk pass her. He stopped as she talked again.
"You don't like talking about your mum but you told me about her." She snapped.
"That's different. Very different. You didn't talk about your mum at all." Evan retorted, already walking to the door.
He opened the door and walked out.
"That's because you know her." She shouted as Evan closed the door on her.
She is finding it hard to believe that they are arguing over something this small, or that she's this angry.
She exhaled and inhaled, walking towards her mum's couch and she sat on it. She had even forgotten that her mum was there.
"Jealous much eh?" Stephanie mocked.
"Jealous? Pfft." She dismissed that thought with the wave of her hand.
"Why should I be jealous, who should I even be jealous of?" She chuckled, as if finding that thought stupid.
"You're obviously jealous of your father." Stephanie tried to make Dolly reason with her.
"You should be walking Evan out now. He probably told you it's getting late and he needs to get home." Stephanie paused, trying to make it sink in her head.
"Then he followed your dad, who you aren't even close with, to talk. Maybe they'll talk for about an hour." She smiled a bit at her when a look of realization crossed Dolly's face.
"You're angry at Evan because he couldn't stay an extra hour with you but he did with your dad." She concluded.
"That's not_". A look from Stephanie stopped her. Maybe her mum is right.
She really should take care of her anger issues.
"You're right mum." Dolly smiled and took her mum's hand.
"Thank you."
Stephanie smiled and squeezed her daughter's hand, glad she could teach her some morals. More glad Dolly accepted it with less dispute.
