Chapter 17✍️
(Do Not Copy Or Repost!)
The door to Louis' office opened when he called out a come in to whoever was at the door. He rested on his armchair, smoking his cigar, his eyes closed.
Charlie walked in to see Louis smoking on his cigar. He was nervous but tried really hard not to show it. He wouldn't come here if her had other means of giving him the documents.
Beads of sweat formed on his forehead as he walked towards Louis. He had to save his brother. His brother before his first love.
Puffing the smoke from his nose, Louis opened his eyes to see Charlie.
"Ye ye Charlie". He said in thick Russian language. Signalling to him with his hand, he called Charlie closer, inhaling his cigar.
Charlie took the seat opposite him as he scrunched his face in disgust of having to inhale the cigar smell, especially from one of the people he detested the most.
He coughed as Louis puffed the smoke directly on his face.
"Can you please stop that?" He requested, almost pleadingly.
Louis hit the cigar on the table to off it, causing total relieve to Charlie. He can breathe in oxygen and not carbon dioxide.
"I suppose you have what belongs to me." Louis' deep baritone voice requested, more of ordered.
"It doesn't belong to you but I do have it." Charlie responded calmly.
Louis rose an eyebrow in a questioning manner but didn't reply to that.
"Can I have what doesn't belong to me but now belongs to me?" Smirking, he outstretched his hand towards Charlie.
"Not so soon Louis." Charlie retorted as the smirk on Louis' face fell.
Charlie loved the look on his face that he almost couldn't contain the smile that appeared on his face. Making his face void of the smile, he kept a cool face.
"What is it now?" Louis enquired angrily, more of ordered to know.
He doesn't understand why he's angry. Maybe because no one had ever spoken to him that way or because his son, who's supposed to call him dad didn't but called him by his name.
Tapping his index finger on the table, Louis spoke.
"I have to be assured that my brother is safe. Call all your men with him to leave and all tabs kept on him should be removed." He stopped that and rested well on the chair.
"Also remove your mic on me," he continued, "together with the camera on me then the property is yours."
Staring at Charlie with eyes scrunched up, he inquired.
"How can I be sure you really have the property?"
He paused, as if reading Charlie's countenance then continued.
"Show me the document." He ordered.
Bringing out an envelope, Charlie opened it and brought out a paperwork. He held it in his hand and showed Louis.
Louis scanned the paper and was very sure it was the right one. He smiled and brought out his tab. Sending a broadcast message to them, he ordered them to leave.
He then stood up and removed the microchip on Charlie, together with the camera and showed him.
"All done." He assured him.
"Thank you." Charlie smiled and got up from his chair, moving towards the door. He opened the door and that was when Louis heard the gunshots on his corridor. He wondered how he didn't hear that until now.
Armed cops entered the office and told him to raise his hands up. He slowly stood up from under his table and brought out an automatic machine gun.
He stood up and shot at all the cops. He had been hiding from cops his whole life and these little ones definitely can't stop him.
He rushed to the door and grabbed Charlie, holding him by his neck, he pushed him forward, the gun to his head.
"I'll shoot if anyone tries to come closer." He shouted, moving to the entrance.
"Drop all guns or he's dead." He threatened.
He finally reached the entrance and ran to his motorbike. He already had the key with him. Reaching there, he pushed Charlie away and drove off.
Charlie hadn't been this frightened his entire life. He had just seen death face to face and what could be more terrifying?
He watched as the motorbike disappeared into a corner. He threw up as the cops came running to him. At least, he wasn't shot.
He had been thinking of a solution when he remembered one of the safety measures his officer friend had taught him. It was in a sorta way that the mic and camera on him wouldn't detect anything.
He had secretly sent the officer a message that he was being stalked and that he needed help. He explained everything and the officer agreed to help him.
He had thought everything had finally fallen into place and Louis would get arrested but he should've known better. He should've known that Louis is a hard core criminal and will not be caught so easily.
He's just grateful that no tabs is kept on his brother anymore. No mics or cameras on him anymore. They can be free, maybe for now. One can't be too careful.
*************************
"Shit! Shit! Shit!" Louis kept cussing as he got down from his bike, into his safe house. That's the only logic place he could be right now.
He should've known that Charles was up to something. He should've guessed through his body language. Now he's lost all over again but all hope isn't lost. He still has Dave to help him out.
He entered the house and brought out the envelope. Checking the documents, he realized it was fake. Not even a photocopy of the original but pure fake.
Looking at it from afar, one will think it's the original but it's actually fake. That was why Charlie could easily show it to him.
He's been fooled, over and over again.
He hit the wall with his fist over and over again until his blood covered his hand and he couldn't lift his arm again.
He sat on the floor, groaning in both pain and anger as he slumped to the floor and slowly blacked out.
