"Are we even close?"
It's been days since the start of their journey to Swveny, and though they did encounter a few bumps here and there on the road, they worked together to solve them without any trouble brewing up. Still, it seems Lisa has a different opinion now compared to herself from hours ago, considering they are now in a mountainous region, where they have to cross it before descending towards Swveny which is located at the foot of the hills at the other side.
"We still have days before we can even start the descent. Cheer up! We do have lots of supplies this time," even though RIn is trying to be as cheerful as possible in this situation to boost their morale, the redhead is getting more and more impatient, "no one ever told me that we need to climb mountains~"
"It's still better than desert and quicksands though."
"But still-! Lune, come on, agree with me for this once," Lisa approaches the blonde and starts shaking her shoulders, making Lune dizzy from all the shaking and Ford, who is checking out the trail, points to one, "this way. I picked up the markers I made from our last trip from Swveny."
Still grumbling, Lune tries to comfort her tired friend and both Rin and Ford stop moving together, where Rin puts a finger on her mouth and whispers, "did you all hear that?"
"Hear what? It could be Snow's stomach, hungry for more food," Lisa almost gets pounced on by Snow who is getting embarrassed from her comment, and Rin shakes her head, "no. Listen more closely, it sounds like rocks shaking-"
"IT'S A LANDSLIDE!"
Huge rocks and boulders come falling from the higher altitudes to their position, and while Rin is trying to help Lune out since she is the one they should escort, Lune slips from her footing at the cliffside and starts falling off, and when Rin is shouting at the scenario, Ford has to push Rin away from a falling boulder and Snow quickly transform into her normal form, which is an adult dragon size and swoops in to save her from falling.
But with only one boulder hitting Snow's wings, she loses her control in flying and falls down as well, where Lune prays that she will not be crushed dead by Snow instead, and once they almost reach the foot of the mountains, Snow starts changing her form to smaller one and cushions Lune's fall by falling first. Not feeling the falling motion anymore, Lune opens her eyes to see herself on top of Snow, and she quickly gets up and strokes her, "are you alright? You're not hurt right?"
She shakes her head and when she looks up at the spot they were falling from, she grimaces when she realizes how tall it is, "we fall quite the height. Do you think the rest are safe?"
The ground rumbles and another landslide begins, making Lune think it's best to avoid going back to the last position and seek shelter immediately, where Snow is now running towards a cave of sorts and the blonde follows after her, and luckily the cave is small and looks sturdy enough for now. Taking out her bag, she makes a quick fire with a few firewood she had saved for emergencies and they are now warming up with each other's body heat, since for some reason the cave is cold.
"They will come over here right? I believe we shouldn't go and look for them in case they are looking for us too, which makes us miss each other potentially."
It's in such cases that makes Lune miss the communication technology she knows from her past life, where with a flick of their hand, a call can be made as long as the signal reception is there. In this world, there's only mail pigeons, and for some odd reason, Chilve never sent any letters to the adventurer guild addressed to her, which reminds her about how a jerk he can be for not contacting her for two long years. Is he even that busy as an alpha? Doesn't he have the time to travel with her previously no matter how short their time together was?
She might have been thinking about these a little too much that she is frowning, making Snow nudges at her and she puts a halt on that, and asks, "are you still cold? Come closer."
Snow's form gets smaller and now she is lap sized, sprawling all over Lune's lap now and purrs from the shared heat, making Lune giggles at how cute Snow can be despite how she is an ice breathing dragon that might are able to destroys towns, "I thought you're ice elemental. Do you even need warmth in the first place?"
She chuckles at how Snow is annoyed at her assumptions, and they stay in one position for at least a few minutes, and finally they hear someone shouting their names coming from the outside of the little cave shelter they are in.
Though it seems it's only Lisa and Rin coming for them with no Ford within sight, and after Lune enquire about his safety, Rin shakes her head and reassures the blonde, "don't worry, he is back at the place we were at, considering he is concerned that his markers might disappear after these accidents, so he is keeping watch while we come to fetch you both."
"Luckily you're both alright! Though is Snow hurt anywhere? It will be a hassle if we have an injured Snow during a travel since the doctor isn't around nearby," the dragon just scoffs at Lisa's concern, and she retorts back at her manners, "it's not our fault for not being a beast doctor, you ungra-"
Lune smiles a little at their interaction and winks at the redhead, "maybe this is why Snow is not so fond of you sometimes, Lisa."
"We should hurry back if we are ready to go. I don't want to get crushed by another potential landslide here."
