Over the course of the next few hours, Lune is finally able to find out a few things that she finds interesting.
First of all, it seems that bites from werewolves really will make a human turn, but it will be ugly since they can't go back to their human form. Shuddering that she almost got bitten by Chilve with how roughly he saved her, she swears herself not to be near to that mouth. Secondly, they have a one mate for the whole life policy, where they are able to become one by performing some sort of a ritual, but it's also possible for a werewolf to be not taking a mate and being polygamous. Thirdly, it's also possible to be a werewolf from birth, obviously from werewolf parents. And those werewolves are normally quick to nurture in terms of their bodies and mindset.
She is still turning on the pages mindlessly, still wondering about the alpha werewolf ritual that is being written about until someone knocks on the door of her room, where she almost cursed from being startled by that and gets up from her seat. The moment she opens the door, Lune frowns at first until her expression softens when her twin's face is serious, "Lune, it seems father is going to wage a war."
"War? With who? Wha-" so many questions flooding into Lune's mind, but Sol sighs and he says, "first off, it doesn't matter who he is fighting or what he is fighting for. The problem is with his absence, he expects us to be governing the kingdom's affairs for the time being."
'Wait, does this mean I have to be working at 10 years of age?!' "I do get that you have to be attending to the court affairs, but why me as well?"
"Do you think the ministers will listen to the crowned prince, especially when he is only 10? Things will run more smoothly if the both of us are making the decisions," Sol combs through his hair with his hair, looking haggard than usual, "so I will be counting on you regarding matters inside the palace. I will be handling matters regarding the whole kingdom."
"I'm not ready."
"Neither do I, but we have to do it."
He leaves before Lune can have any say regarding this arrangement, so she closes her door and jumps straight to her bed, where she is shouting a few curse words to let off some steam. After a few minutes of cursing and trashing about, Lune finally calms down and thinks about how she can be ready to be facing adults, especially when she is just a child on the outside. She might be more mature internally, but she will no doubt be facing lots of resistance from the others if she ever makes any decisions that doesn't sound comfortable for them, even though she knows it might be the best decision. Lune takes a quick look at the books and sighs, knowing she won't be having the leisure time to learn about werewolves for now.
'Do I have to stop seeing Chilve for now? I need some time to refresh my memory on politics.' Realizing she doesn't really concern herself with the country's affairs in her past life, she thrash about again on her bed, hoping that she will have enough time to pump that knowledge in her brain for the next few days before she needs to start 'work'.
Something thumps on the window of her bedroom, surprising her so much she gets up quickly that she almost snaps her own spine with how quickly and suddenly she moves. Quickly, she grabs a wooden stick she decided to keep by the side of her bed for such emergencies and she asks, "who's there? If you don't talk, I'll scream."
A silhouette appears once she blurts that out, and she shouts a little before she tries to stop herself when she hears the familiar voice, "idiot, it's me, Chilve."
"What the fuck are you doing here? And how do you even know where my bedroom is anyway?!" Before she can comprehend, Chilve opens the window himself and he holds out something shiny in his palm, "I'm here to return your hairpin. You must have dropped it earlier," her eyes widen when she realizes the hairpin she wore always is missing, and she quickly snatches it from Chilve's hand and inspects it to see if there's any damage, and when she sees some scratches on one of the jewel ornament, she frowns, "I shouldn't have wear this next time I'm out, now it's damaged."
"Can't you get another one? You are a princess."
'Does he think that a princess can get whatever she wants?' Sighing for his ignorance, she shakes her head, "I can't just get anything I want, especially when most of the accessories and clothes are arranged by his majesty and not me. This one hairpin also happens to be the last one that was designed by my late mother."
Chilve's mouth opens, want to say something, but knowing she might get mad if he talks about her late mother, he closes it. His ear twitches when he hears armored footsteps, and that's his cue to go, "I'm going Lune, don't miss me too much."
"What- you are going already?"
"The guards are coming, or do you want me to get captured? You're cruel, princess," he exits the window and looks around to find if there's any safe spot to land on from this height, Lune approaches and grabs his hand, "Chilve! I might not be able to see you again for some time, since-"
He turns to stare at her amber eyes and he jokes, "are you tired of me already? And I thought I got your attention considering I saved your life and being a werewolf."
"Quit joking around, I have matters to attend to, kingdom related since his majesty will be absent for a bit for some war."
The guards are getting near and Chilve is being restless, and he frowns deeper before he grabs Lune's hand and removes it from holding him, "then, if you want to see me, just call my name, I'll come to you once I hear it."
Before she can agree to anything, Chilve jumps down from the railing and she can't see him anymore, like he just poofs into thin air.
'Idiot. Don't say things like those heroes speak to their heroine in movies.'
