Fraine remained standing in front of the wooden office table, staring at the nameplate.
'What am I going to do now?'
Can she avoid not meeting him now that Lopez Corporation has invested in their company?
She was in such a dilemma. She wanted to resign at that very moment. However, she already signed a temporary contract with President Galvez.
She has no choice but to pray that his boss finds her replacement soon. But the question is, where should she move out?
She does not have enough savings to fend for herself.
"Miss Fraine?"
Fraine was pulled out of her train of thought when Gladys called out to her, knocking on the door.
"What is it?" she turned around and asked with a faint smile.
"Miss Fraine, President Galvez's assistant, reminded you to attend the lunch gathering on the ground floor." Gladys reminders.
With that, Fraine recalled the free lunch President Galvez had prepared. She glanced at her wristwatch and hummed. "Oh, right, it's about time!"
Fraine had the hunch that the free lunch was about to clear out the rumors.
'I should look for a new job somewhere.'
Her hurrying to resign has no connection with the rumors but with some other reason. Therefore, as soon as she finds a new job, she'll leave Sasha City.
'Anything is fine, as long as I never see him again.'
"Miss Fraine?"
Fraine did not move from where she stood. Thus, Gladys has to snap her out of the daze.
Fraine blinked and nodded. "Let's go."
She spun her heels and headed to her own office to get her phone before she trailed the hallway toward the elevator.
Gladys followed suit behind her.
At the atrium, the place was already filled with company employees, including the executives and the big boss.
Fraine did her best to hide from President Galvez; however, his assistant spotted her instantly. Now, with a loud voice, he called her to join them at the stage in the hall. She wanted to turn it down, but she remembered she was now a company executive.
"Gladys?"
Gladys waved her hand. "I'm fine, Miss Fraine! I will look for an empty chair to sit on."
Gladys did not wait for her reply, as she wanted to escape her girlfriend's questioning gaze about why she was with Fraine. Although they broke up, she won't want me to explain things to her.
When she applied to work for Dale Enterprise, the hiring was actually for their subsidiary company. She didn't know it would be within Sasha City and not in Mainland City.
Dale Enterprise has many branches across the M Country. But they've chosen to put up their next branch in this booming city in recent years. Thus, Gladys could not be picky, but she grabbed the opportunity and gained experience.
Perhaps a promotion in the future will come after the bosses see her hard work and she is given a chance to showcase her skills. Honestly, she was fine working in the field rather than being stuck inside the office the entire day.
Fraine, on the other hand, took the seat next to Mabel. The male executives had broad smiles mixed with delight and maliciousness.
A few even had wild thoughts that the president was finally exposing his affair with a younger employee.
Yet the other is purely considering that Fraine deserves the position.
They need a junior employee with a pleasing appearance and personality. Besides, they knew Fraine was capable. They knew very well that she was often chosen to be promoted to a managerial position, but Fraine often turned down the offer.
At first, everyone wondered why she would reject such an offer. But Fraine explained it to the executives. With her illness, she could not do a lot of fieldwork. Hence, she sits inside her small cubicle and sorts out all the reports that come to her table instead.
Fraine is actually very efficient in her work. She would complete sorting out the reports in a short time, which is why her superior could not say no when she asked for a leave.
Aside from that, it's not President Galvez's sole choice; other people decided.
The president explained this to the board of directors when they had a meeting this morning. The Dale Enterprise chose Fraine to be the representative of both companies.
In a nutshell, Dale Enterprise was directly employing Fraine. Although she remained in office at G Company, she is no longer working for President Galvez but as a business partner.
It was more fishy that Fraine suddenly became an executive working for Dale Enterprise. And they were curious to know if their suspicion was correct that Fraine was in a relationship with someone in Dale Enterprise.
If she did not, then why did she accept the position this time?
The executives who had these thoughts eyed Fraine with meaningful gazes.
Fraine could actually sense how everyone scrutinized her. But she ignored them and ate her meal quietly.
She was grateful that the person she sat next to was Mabel because people gave her that murderous stare when she was seated next to President Galvez.
"Fraine, I hope you like the food my assistant ordered. You were still in treatment, right?"
"Yes, I am, President Galvez. Thank you." Fraine looked up and smiled, then lowered her gaze again, ignoring everyone's unpleasant stares from every direction in this hall.
After the free lunch, announcements were made. The vice president walked to the stand in the right corner of the stage to address an opening speech.
"Good after, everyone. We hope you enjoyed our lunch today."
A round of applause echoed throughout the hall. The company VP went on, then ended his speech after ten minutes.
"Now, ladies and gentlemen, let's give a round of applause for our very kind boss, President Galvez!" The VP steps backward and gives way to the boss.
"Thank you, everyone. Seeing each of you before me made me realize that this company is truly an enormous family. Honestly, it wasn't just once or twice. But our company has faced many setbacks. I'm grateful that we always get back on our feet. And that would not be possible if it weren't for the help of our investors. So, I hope we are all getting along well and welcome the upcoming changes in our family."
"Oh, I wonder why the president mentioned that?"
"His words are indeed full of meaning."
Whispers arise among the employees. President Galvez coughed before he added.
"Recently, we have had a problem with our production because of our old machinery. Thanks to Chairman Dale, we can purchase new machines! But everything would not be possible if it weren't for Miss Michaels's success in negotiating with Chairman Dale."
The loud applause faded gradually, and everyone started whispering to each other.
"How possible is that?"
"Aren't the one who met up with Chairman Dale for contract negotiation someone else?"
"I know, right?"
"Unless Fraine is…"
