It was morning when she woke. Dr. Crider was in the doorway, dressed to go out.
"I'll be back soon," he said."Do you know how to make breakfast? Have whatever you find in the kitchen. I've already eaten."
Jemmy and Meg were still asleep.She went into the kitchen. A small fire burned in the grate. she sung the kettle over it. Almost at once it began to sing. She set out a plate of biscuits. She made tea in a round blue pot.
Jemmy and Meg came to the door. Their hair was on end. Their eyes we're sleepy.
" Where is this place?" asked Jemmy
"Don't you remember "
They came to the table. Something clanked as Jemmy sat down.
"What was that?" asked Amanda.
"The knock- knock," said Meg
"Jemmy!" said Amanda.
"I keep it in my pocket." he said."Aren't you glad?"
"Put it on the table, we will think of a way to carry it. Amanda thought of what Father had said,"A LION TO GUARD YOU....."
They worked after breakfast and everything was tidy
Dr. Crider came back. Amanda made him speak twice but he never answered after thrice,
"Yes? What is it, Amanda?"
"Will you have tea?"
"NO, Amanda_"
"Yes, "
" I've just been to see sir Thomas Smythe on Philpot Lane. We've talked about ships to the new World 9 are leaving next month. 9 ships in June. And you'll be on one of them."
" I will? Truly?"
"Yes, and Meg and Jemmy too."
"I know You went to Mistress Trippett's you got the money"
Dr.Cridersaid as his voice kept on rising"Not Really, They want me Jamestown. They want doctors in Jamestown. There's nothing to keep me here, I'm going We're all going to the new world_ Together!"
