Chapter 9 - From a lazy soccer mum to a Donna

Zi Han knew he was only delaying the inevitable as he chatted up the little old lady for longer. From the open window in the elderly's apartment, he could hear the rain of curses and insults coming from outside. These were the sorrowful cries of the wicked baptized by Mrs Cheng's bathwater.

Words like, "Fuck... it's so salty," and "Oh god.... *barf.... it smells funny."

The most outstanding of them all were the high pitched screams of a woman echoing throughout the entire complex bouncing off the walls.

"AAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!! THAT @$$@&@%..... I AM GOING TO FUCKIN @#$^@%@@&$@ AND @^#^#&&#@%%@... I WILL KILL HER AND THAT BASTARD SON @^#%##^@&% WITH CONCRETE AND @%#^^@@% DROWN THEM IN SEWAGE!"

For the sake of sensitive and innocent eyes this content has been bleeped out but here is a simple translation of what she was saying. She was saying that she was going to drag Zi Xingxi out by her hair, chop off her tits and feed them to her.

She also mentioned doing something inexplicable to Zi Xingxi's face then proceed to make her watch her son drown in sewage by weighing down his feet with concrete. After that, she would drown Zi Xingxi as well and keep her punani as a trophy.

Such graphic vulgarities were truly upsetting to hear but the person whose murder was being publicly described in great detail was standing by her apartment door with a murderous look like she was about to kill her son.

When Zi Han opened Mrs Cheng's apartment door to leave he almost ran back inside to seek refuge but if he did that then Zi Xingxi would only follow him in. He wasn't certain if the old lady could withstand such a stimulating scene thus he decided to face his mother head-on.

After shutting Mrs Cheng's door behind him he took a small step forward that could barely qualify as a baby step. All the while he didn't even raise his head to look into her eyes. She was just like a leopard on the prowl. Staring her straight in the eye was like an act of provocation hence signing off on his death quickly.

Out of desperation, he whimpered, "Ma..... shit." That swear came right after he dodged a bunny slipper flying his way.

"Tsk..... you pick it up and get inside," she said through gritted teeth as she walked back into the apartment.

Zi Han didn't even think of talking back. Words like, 'Why should I pick it up when I wasn't the one who threw it,' didn't even cross his mind. If he dared say that then one egg tart wouldn't be enough to save his ass.

He quickly darted into the apartment and closed the door behind him. Not knowing what he should do he stood by the door watching his mother taking out a dish cloth and opening up the freezer before pouring out ice blocks.

Aware of her son's presence she tied the corners of the dish cloth together while saying, "Go sit down," in a chilling voice that had Zi Han placing the bunny slipper at her foot before hastily walking to the couch to sit.

Now he was even more worried than before. This silent no yelling and cursing version of his mother was deeply concerning. He much preferred she screamed at him rather than keep silent like this. This kind of response was difficult to decipher as it rarely happened.

To his surprise, she walked over and sat beside him before pinching his chin to force him to look at her. When she saw that bruise her heart ached so much that she wanted to make whoever did this to her precious baby pay the price. She gently placed this dish cloth with ice on his face her brows knitted into a frown.

"Who did this?" she asked her voice broken and menacing.

Zi Han had heard an almost similar question before and at that time he was stupid enough to report the culprit's name, address and class number. The issue then wasn't because of a fight rather it was a girl who had gifted him a box of chocolates and a sweet pink note confessing her affection towards him. One can't blame him for being stupid, he was only twelve back then.

After he told her that the next day the girl began to avoid him like the plague. If she saw him from afar she would run the other way refusing to walk down the same hallway as him. Till now it is still a mystery what his mother did to scare her so much.

Now that he had not only acted as a courier for illegal substances and also gone to sky city which was strictly forbidden he would never confess who did this even if he knew that douchebag's name, address or identification number.

He would rather die than confess his crimes. Zi Han placed his hand over his mother's that was holding the ice packed dish cloth on the swollen part of his face and said, "I don't know him... I will just use the medical kit. The bruise would be gone by tomorrow," in a reassuring tone.

But instead of feeling relieved, Zi Xingxi frowned like she had read his mind. Indeed she had not only read his mind but knew he was lying. Something big happened since he left this house and now he was playing her like she was born yesterday. If he wasn't going to confess then she would go find out herself and when that happens it meant his punishment would triple.

She harshly poked his face where the bruise was and as he drew in a cold breath of air grimacing in pain she got up from her seat. In two strides she disappeared into her bedroom. From where Zi Han was sitting he could hear her bustling about in the other room as though looking for something.

The walls in this small apartment were especially thin that he could hear everything. So when he heard those bunny slippers shuffle on the floor he subconsciously straightened his back looking rather obedient. For some reason, his mother was particular about him sitting with a slouched back. She would scold him about it all day till his ears bleed.

When she came out Zi Han expected her to sit beside him and use the medical device on his cheek while reprimanding him to the high heavens but when she came out she was wearing her thick coat like she was going out.

Her hair had been tied back into a high ponytail with the aura surrounding her drastically changing from the typical lazy soccer mum to a Donna running a small scale criminal organisation.
