"I am not joking," she said but the Marshal didn't respond. He just placed his hand on his forehead staring at her.
"Fine, do what you want. I am going to bed," she said before covering herself with a quilt and closing her eyes.
She could hear sounds in the room for a very long time and she honestly thought that he was going to leave. But as she became drowsy and about to sleep she felt a dip in the bed like some weight had been put on it. Despite this, she didn't move. She pretended as if she had really fallen asleep.
A second later she felt a cool breeze from the quilt being lifted and a warm body shuffling closer to her.
A warm hand slipped in between her arm and her waist pulling her into an embrace. He didn't know why she was adamant about this but he trusted her. Worse case scenario... he would abandon his post and flee with his family if it comes to it.
