Qie Xieling was sitting in the barstool at the kitchen counter savoring the warm and fluffy steamed pork buns that his grandma had made for him. He had woken up later than everybody else and they had all eaten already.
He loved the sweet and savoury filling of pork and cabbage, and the soft and chewy dough that melted in his mouth. He felt happy and relaxed. He hadn't been this relaxed in a long time.
He glanced at the patio, where his father was massaging his dad's shoulders. His father had definitely pissed off his dad last night because he was going far and beyond to please him. He was working especially hard almost kowtowing.
A few feet in the garden his grandma was watering the flowers. As she sprayed the water Qie Xieling could smell the fragrance of jasmine and mint.
