< I think you overdid it host. >
"Haah… Haah… It paid off system." He was panting because of the amount of grinding he had done.
[ Prince of Shadows
Level 6: 453 / 1797 ]
Not including the boost in job exp he got, Aiden also level up once again. He had already roamed the forest many times but still haven't found the spider.
'Who could have known that a spider would be this hard to find? Here I can't find one whereas on earth, spiders found me.'
Aiden could still remember his days in the orphanage. There was an army of spiders there and many of the people in the orphanage were terrified of them.
So Aiden, with slippers in both hands, had taken upon himself to kill as many spiders as he could. He was even called the king of killing spiders.
It looked as though the spiders in this world had been warned about his spider killing abilities.
'System, is there a god or goddess of spiders?'
< There is a god for almost everything host but since you are born in the demon realms, which almost all the gods hate, you won't know anything about them. You will need to travel to other realms to gather more knowledge about this. >
Aiden sighed at the system's reply. But there wasn't anything that he could do.
'System, can I make a slipper out of shadows?' Aiden suddenly asked as he wanted to try something.
< Host, I don't like what you are thinking. And no, you can't create a slipper out of shadows. Fortunately, it would prevent me from seeing a spider being squashed. >
'Your wish system. And I wouldn't like a spider god or goddess watching me. I already have the orc god watching me.' Aiden thought as he decided to explore the rest of the forest.
But instead of moving in any particular direction, he decided to move towards the middle of the forest. The deeper he ventured, the fewer beasts he encountered.
'Why does it feel like I am going in the lair of a boss?' Aiden couldn't help but wonder whether he was venturing into the lair of a boss.
But if his luck was good, he might be able to find a spider or two.
But if his luck was bad, he might just end up in a spider's embrace and that was not the kind of embrace Aiden wanted to experience.
'Uh system, is that silk, or am I hallucinating because a spider bit me?' A few meters away from Aiden, was a thick cobweb that looked as though it was made from silk.
[ Spider Silk Web
A thick silk web made by a spider. Is strong enough to be used as a support while jumping down a cliff or going underwater. But if a person touches it, he or she might get poisoned. ]
'So the inspection skill works in this way too huh.'
The further Aiden went, the more cobwebs he saw. And they were also increasing in size.
From the size of a normal cobweb, they grew to one as long and big as Aiden. Even though Aiden wasn't terrified of spiders, he was hesitating whether he should continue ahead or not.
'I am going back. I value my life more than smashing a spider dead.' Aiden turned back and started heading back.
But no sooner had he taken a few steps that he received a system notification
[ The quest: Forest of Monsters had been completed.
10000 exp received. ]
Aiden blinked in confusion as this meant that he had killed a spider.
He turned his right shoe up and saw a tiny spider's body there.
'Well, that was anti-climatic.' He thought with a sigh and decided to take some rest.
And like that, three days passed by.
"Time to go back Aiden." Kisuke suddenly appeared behind Aiden who had been expecting someone to come and take him.
Kisuke took him back to his class and after that, he went and brought back the rest of the children.
"Looks like everyone survived this time. So now that this is over, it's time for all of you to receive your skill scrolls. They have already been chosen by the academy and you will have a year to master them." Kisuke explained as all the children nodded.
"And by the way, all of you are gonna have to get ready for a competition that would happen in a month." He added as Aiden suddenly looked interested.
After all competition arcs were the best for a person with a system to gain more Exp. Now all he needed was a special quest.
"I should probably rephrase that. You guys should get ready for the advancement test that would happen in a month. And those of you who will fail the test would be kicked out from the academy." Kisuke gave them an apologizing smile as the entire class erupted into chaos.
"But the tests are supposed to happen a year later!"
"This is unfair!"
Children started screaming after one other and Kisuke stood silent.
"Go talk to your principal if you want to. I don't decide anything." He said in a final tone as the entire class.
Everyone looked down at their desks as though they were terrified of this 'principal'. But unsurprisingly, Aiden was the only one who didn't know about the principal.
"The principal of the school is someone even my parents fear. It is said that in his prime days, he used to eat human children alive but now that he is a principal, he waits for someone really bad to appear and then eats him." Will suddenly whispered to Aiden as he knew that his friend had no idea about this.
'That seems like an overstatement.' Aiden than thought but two minutes later, he was left wondering whether it was true or not.
After all, his experience with other demons weren't exactly great.
"Anyways class, take your scrolls and start practicing them. And as for the exams, you better learn some attack skills as well as movement skills. That's all I can tell you for now," Kisuke said while clapping his hands once. "More information will be disclosed later on."
The children questioned down before they received the scrolls one by one.
And when Aiden received his, the only thing that entered his mind was whether he should just jump down a window or practice the skill.
