"Can I get a weapon for the trial of worth?" Aiden decided to ask the man in black about this as he was back in his room.
The man looked at Aiden's face for a few seconds before vanishing away without replying.
'So I shouldn't expect any help from my parents huh.' Aiden sighed as he thought about the big day that was about to happen tomorrow.
And just like that, the night passed away.
'Damn, I look like a person who was just dug out of the ground.' Aiden thought while staring in the mirror in his bathroom.
His black hair and grown down to his eyebrows and his red eyes looked restless. Aiden didn't want to step into the shower since he knew that he wouldn't get out of there for at least an hour.
But since he wouldn't be able to take a shower for three days, he sighed and stepped into the shower.
"I was right." Aiden muttered to himself while coming out of the bath approximately an hour later.
He quickly dried his hair and wore his clothes as the man in black from the previous day appeared in his room.
"No food for today and you will not be given any weapons beforehand." The man in black said as Aiden nodded.
They then vanished and appeared in a new place before the man vanished again. Aiden rolled his eyes at this as he turned to look where he was.
In front of Aiden's face were crooked black trees with dead branches. Staring noises were coming from inside the forest.
A sudden scream which looked as though it belonged to a person sent chills down Aiden's spine as he noticed his teacher standing a few feet away with dropped eyes.
"Oh good morning prince, the other already went inside. You are the last one remaining so let me explain a few things." Kisuke said with a smile as he walked forward to greet Aiden.
But Aiden wasn't paying attention to Kisuke's words since his gaze was fixed on the trees and the area it covered.
The forest was so big that Aiden couldn't even see its end on either side. The trees were approximately forty to fifty feet tall and were bent down.
Even though it was morning, the forest looked as though it was stuck in eternal night since no beam of light was entering it.
"Listen carefully prince. Inside the forest, there is a certain type of flower known as blood lotus and it grows in large quantities. These flowers are used in potion-making. You will get a few of these potions depending on how many flowers you bring. It's an optional thing to do so you can skip it if you want but I will recommend that you find them." Kisuke slowly explained as Aiden nodded.
He then grabbed Aiden's right wrist and clasped a black bracelet on his wrist. Aiden glanced at the bracelet with fascination as he saw an intricate pattern of red symbols etched on the bracelet.
"This is a bracelet that has runes etched on it. These runes will start burning exactly three days from now and that's how I will be able to track you. You can now go in.'" Kisuke said and stepped aside as Aiden took a deep breath and entered the forest.
He glanced back one last time before venturing deeper into the forest. The environment remained the same as a foul smell suddenly entered his nose.
'Ahh, what's this smell?!' Aiden cursed in his mind as he suddenly bent down and glanced towards his right to see a pack of wolves eating what looked like a deer.
There were a total of seven wolves but they were different from the type of wolves he knew. These wolves were twice as big as normal wolves and had pure black fur.
Even from this distance, Aiden could see that they had glowing yellow eyes as he silently walked out of the place.
It was just the first day and picking up a fight this soon was not a good strategy. Though it didn't mean that Aiden wouldn't fight anyone since he had many things that he wanted to test.
He then started walking for a few more minutes and suddenly stopped when he heard footsteps behind.
'Shadow Manipulation!' Aiden quickly thought as he manipulated the shadow to see who was behind him and how far he was.
His shadow then quickly joined the shadow of the being behind him and came back in an instant.
The shadow then turned into the image of one of his classmates who was barely ten meters away from Aiden.
And the person had a knife in his hand.
Aiden didn't have the time to think about anything as he quickly moved to the right to dodge an incoming stab.
"Damn, that was close." The person said with a tch noise as they waved the dagger in Aiden's direction.
"I would appreciate it if you lay on the ground and don't struggle, prince Aiden." The person then said as Aiden frowned.
The person's name was Tonpa and he had been friendly with Aiden during classes. But it apparently was a hoax.
"Guess what, I am not doing that." Aiden said as he tried to but some time for himself to either run away or find a weapon.
Tonpa already had a huge advantage since his parents must have told him some secrets about the trial and already given him weapons.
Even though only a dagger was visible in Tonpa's hand, Aiden could see the hilt of another dagger peeking out from his jacket.
"I don't think you know about the special condition, do you? Well since you are about to die anyway, let me tell you. These bracelets on our wrists also keep track of our lives and that's how the people outside figure out who died and when. But it also records kill so If you kill another student or beast, the people who created the bracelet will know
So there's a special thing where the more students or beasts you kill, the better skill books you will get and no one can object to anything. So that is why you are going to die." Tonpa said with a smile and charged forward with his dagger.
'Damn it.' Aiden cursed and raised his hands in defense.
