Chapter 1 - Prologue: The Beginning of the End

A deep guttural, yet intelligent voice spoke to a small girl, sitting motionless on the floor.

"Elonya, you look like you have no place in this world, for your sister is dead, and your mother and father are too busy with themselves. I can see into your soul, and it is empty. I promise you that I will grant you a new place in this world. Take heed, child, for this is what happens when you sow discord and chaos across these lands."

The child herself was no more than eight years old. Her hair was a soft silver, and her skin was transparent, you could almost see her organs and veins. She had the traditionally pointy ears of an elf. The man, or rather creature, carrying her was just over six foot tall. It's skin was light brown and wrinkled. It resembled a bipedal frog-like man. The creature had begun carrying the child out of the house, walking slowly. Although the girl could not see what was happening, she could hear her mother's scream, and she knew that both her mother and father were dead, gone forever. The being continued speaking as it carried her over towards the ocean.

"Child, you will live. If the day comes that you must find me, I will not hide. I will forever await the day of my death, at your hands. Elonya, you must live. However  take care, for revenge is a one way trip, and once you travel that path….There will be no return."

As he finished speaking, he tossed the young girl into the sea. The sea had seemingly swallowed Elonya up, leaving no trace that she was ever there.

Elonya's life was plunged into darkness. The water was cold, and she sank for seemingly hours. Eventually, she began struggling with all of her strength as realization dawned on her. The realization that she was going to die. She realized that she did not want death.

"No. I will live. I refuse to die. I will not die. I will not die. I will not die. I will not die" She repeated to herself, in an almost chant-like mantra, before she was thrust towards a bright light.

.....

Elonya was born in Corellia. The capital of Keyosea. This city is known to be the trade capital of the Stellari people, a race native to Ovisia, the only known continent in the world.

Elonya was one of two twins born into a small merchant family. They were neither poor, nor wealthy. They were a middle class family. Her early childhood was bright, sunny and happy on the outside. What happened under their roof at night was a tragedy. Her father and mother would constantly bicker, fighting between her parents was common, occurring daily at least once or twice. This fighting would occasionally devolve into brawls between her mother and father. Never would it extend to Elonya or her sister.

Elonya had always been protective of her sister, Sidrae (Pronounced Sid-ri). She had taken on a protective role, often shielding her sister from flying bottles, or stray spells. Sidrae always lamented this fact, cursing herself for being weak. In spite of everything, Elonya was always smiling at her sister, and despite her shortcomings, the one thing she could never fail at, was protecting her sister. The twins were never apart, and they meant everything to each other.

One night, the infighting was getting particularly bad. Elonya and Sidrae were hiding inside of a closet. Elonya spoke first, they were seven at the time.

"Sae, I will always be here to protect you, on this I will promise you, time and time again. I love you."

Sidrae replied with tears in her eyes. "I love you too, sis."

They hid in the closet for most of the night before the door flew open. Elonya jumped to protect her sister, but was tossed away by her father, batted like a fly. He drug Sidrae out of the closet and screamed at Sidrae in rage. The twins didn't understand, but Elonya saw her father differently after that. She began to see him as a monster.

A couple weeks had passed, and Sidrae began changing, inside and outside. Her flesh was becoming harder, more terse, while her emotions grew distant. Her mother had suspected a disease of some kind. The local life Shaman had diagnosed her with Filx. A disease that slowly petrifies one's mind, body and soul. Elonya was once again reminded of her shortcomings. Being unable to help one that she swore to protect. She was at a loss, and her world came crashing down. During this time she would talk with Sidrae, pouring her heart out. It was apparent that Sidrae could understand and feel her sister's plight. But she could not reach out to her, she could not reveal her own worries or console her. Elonya had never left her side, until one morning when she woke up from her usual place beside her bed. She witnessed Sidrae fully turned to stone. She had failed at easing her sister's pain. She had failed at everything, Elonya believed herself to be lost. The stories her mother would tell her of the great Strisx (Pronounced Strisck) was but a memory, and Elonya's entire world turned gray. She could no longer see color, nor could she taste any food.

Despite the death of Sidrae, her family's infighting only worsened. Elonya would look on in detachment. No longer feeling love for these two beings. Parents… failed parents who would not stop fighting despite her sister's death. Elonya could only watch on, detaching herself further.

A full year after Sidrae's death, the night was peaceful for once. There was no fighting, no arguments, no broken bottles, and no smashed walls. The house was eerily silent. Black cloaked figures rushed towards the house. They kicked open the door and brought the whole family into the dining area. Elonya watched on with curiosity. She silently thought to herself 'will we all die here? For what reason?' The six foot tall cloaked figure spoke, his voice guttural, yet full of wisdom.

"Garesh Adrieth, you have spread chaos and discord all throughout Ovisia, your punishment is death…. Malorie Adrieth, you have acknowledged his wickedness, but have not attempted to stop it, as such, you will be put to death."

The figure turned towards Elonya. He seemed to recognize her gaze, as he stopped everything. Time seemed to slow down as he gazed at Elonya's emotionless face. After a few moments passed, he strode over and picked the child up. He spoke softly to her.

"Elonya, you look like you have no place in this world, for your sister is dead, your father and your mother are too busy with themselves. I see your look, and I promise you that I will grant you a new place in this world. Take heed, child, for this is what happens when you sow discord and chaos across this land."

The just over six foot tall frog-like man carried Elonya towards the front door as he spoke with a caring tone.

"Child, you will live. If the day comes that you must find me, I will not hide. I will forever await the day of my death at your hands. Elonya, you must live. However, take care, for revenge is a one way trip, and once you travel that path…. There will be no return."

With those words, Elonya heard her mother's scream and then all was silent. She was carried to the ocean and thrown in. As if the ocean was swallowing her, she disappeared without a trace.

Once again, Elonya's life was plunged into darkness. She struggled with all of her strength as realization slowly dawned on her.

"No. I will live. I refuse to die. I will not die. I will not die." She repeated to herself, in an almost chant-like mantra, before she was thrust towards a bright light. She opened her eyes to a vast, endless plain of snow and ice, a massive dragon looming over her. The bone-chilling cold was the last thing she felt, and as her eyes closed, she said very weakly: "I…will…not.. die…".
