Days passed by and Imperial Consort Xian has not heard about her son. She started surreptitiously looking around the palace. It was as if he had disappeared into thin air.
"Calm down. It's not the first time the boy has escaped to Chang An. He should return in a few days. He have always told me though, when he would escape to the city..." Imperial Consort Xian thought trying to comfort herself.
She was not fond of her useless son, but she liked to think that the heavens had taken pity of her and had granted her a son on the first try. She really did not care if he was alive or dead, but what bothered her was not being in control of the situation. If he were dead, then she could think of a way of using his death to benefit her.
"Di Pei! Di Pei!"
The elderly maid came running toward Imperial Consort Xian who was screaming to her in her resting chambers.
"What happened, Imperial Consort Xian?"
