I don't know about that. I've seen some pretty peculiar things" She replied.
"I don't even know if what I saw could be described."
"Try your best"
"Well," I started, "It wasn't human. It had several limbs. Blood everywhere. Looked like it came out of experimental lab or something. Like a polymorphous being."
Theresa looked at me and laughed. "I'm telling the truth!" I screeched.
"And here I thought I had seen everything." She spoke.
"It dissapeared over the ridge. I couldn't see it after that."
"Well I believe that somewhat. I mean, you came out alive. Let's go back in I guess and clean up that mess." Theresa replied.
We stepped through the door and made our way to the kitchen. There was a lot of cleaning to do. We put the door back on the hinges, cleaned the carpet, and washed my sheets.
No matter how clean they were, I never slept on those sheets again. It haunted me that that thing even touched my sheets.
I woke up to school the next day with my backpack and my bag of decorations ready to go.
As I was putting my shirt on I heard a knock at my door.
"Aunt Theresa?"
"It's Dan."
I blushed and hurriedly put my shirt on. "Come in."
"Hey. You ready to go?"
"Yeah just let me get some perfume on."
I grabbed the perfume off the dresser and sprayed it on my wrists.
Dan started coughing obnoxiously. "It's not that bad. It smells earthy," I complained, "Ugh. Let's go."
"I can carry this" Dan said. I nodded and took the other bag. Dan ran hurriedly down the stairs, and I followed closely behind.
"Hi Daisy's aunt!"
Theresa looked up, confused, as Dan ran past her.
"Who-?"
"Hi Theresa!" I followed after.
She looked dumbfounded as we both ran out the door together, racing playfully. We sprinted down the trail but quickly fell out of breath.
Huff. Huff. Huff. I could feel my heart beating in my head as I looked over at Dan who also had his hands on his knees, huffing and puffing.
"Maybe we shouldn't do that?" He implied.
"Yeah. No."
We walked the rest of the way, taking care of our precious cargo. When we finally arrived something felt off.
"Let's go in I guess." Dan looked at me, slightly discerned.
He held the door open as I stepped through it. I was astonished to look inside and find the hallways decked down with a variety of colored lights.
Joe greeted us shortly down the hallway. "Welcome. Where's your aunt, Daisy?" He asked. I shrugged. The sound of the outside door opening could be heard halfway down the hall.
"Daisy!"
Aunt Theresa popped her head through the door and called for me. Joe peeked over, red.
She finally stepped through the door, sprinting as fast as she could towards us, in high heels.
"Woah! Don't fall." Joe warned.
"Daisy who is this young man? Is this your little boyfriend?" Theresa asked, pointing at Dan.
"N-no!" I waved my hands, embarassed, "He's just my friend."
Aunt Theresa giggled and walked over to Joe. "So you're the principal? Nice to meet you!"
Joe reached his hand to shake hers. He slipped his hand back into his pocket afterwards, blushing.
It became crowded as the halls quickly filled with nicely dressed students.
Aiden came in shortly after, dressed in a clean tuxedo and a brown tie.
"We need the gym decorated if you don't mind..." Joe asked.
I looked over to Dan. He smiled. I had began to notice that while we wore plain, everyday clothes, everybody else was dressed formally.
"We'll do it." Dan replied. Joe and Theresa walked away down the hall. We pulled open the doors to the gym and stepped inside. LED lights were scattered everywhere in arrays of pink and blue.
"We just need to hang the streamers its seems." He looked at me.
"You do blue and I do pink"
"Fair enough"
I dropped the bag down on the floor and he began to shuffle through it. He pulled out the pastel blue streamer and handed me the pink.
"Wait," I was interrupted by the sound of Dan's voice.
"We need tape"
We made our way back out into the hall and began speed-walking through crowds of people and back to Joe's office.
The door was already slightly open, so we peeked inside.
