He studied as much as he could, reading books on the most diverse subjects, practicing magic with the help of books that contained collections of spells. Gaius found he had an almost divine talent for magic, he didn't know if it was because of his transformation or if he already had, but even so he was very excited about his newfound strength.
His strength would help him achieve revenge against the northern peoples. While Gaius researched the geography of the place where he was, he discovered that the world they were in was called Dalia and was divided into four continents, the western, eastern, northern and southern continents. Gaius was fascinated by the distribution of continents as they were actually organized into the hemispheres that gave their names.
The Lastar kingdom was located on the southern continent. The continent contained three empires and six kingdoms. The Lastar kingdom was a small power that dominated the kingdoms but still ranked below the great empires.
Gaius finally left the library after nearly a year. He got up and stretched before heading towards the door. Stepping out into the hallway he activated an ability he named Bloody Eyes where he could observe everything that was bloody within a 50 kilometer radius. Identifying who he thought Lyria was, and 'walked', actually to outsiders he seemed to disappear from where he was suddenly appearing beside Lyria.
"You scared the shit out of me young master. Don't do that anymore, please!" she said with a false anger in her voice.
"Ehhh… sorry Lyria, I didn't mean to scare you." he said awkwardly. "But I wanted to ask if we can't go out and see the city."
"Young master it is a rule that you cannot go beyond the outskirts of the White Mansion. Even we servants cannot stray too far from the mansion….Master does not seem to have a good relationship with the nobles of the realm." Lyria said with pity for Gaius.
"I see….alright then, I'll go back to the library"
Gaius bowed to Lyria before disappearing. Lyria blew out a little sigh and went back to her daily chores.
Gaius appeared in the library, seated himself at a large solid wooden table that contained large world maps and a large map containing the geography of the realm.
Gaius was not overcome by Lyria's negative response. As much as it was a rule imposed by his 'mother' and progenitor, Gaius didn't think his little adventure would do much damage. He planned to go as far away from Duchy Fryt as possible.
Looking at the map Gaius decided to go to the duchy of Aztris. It was a good distance from Duchy Fryt but not very far. Gaius prepared for almost two weeks, took a good supply of blood, considering how long he would be gone, the blood was animal as Gaius didn't want to alarm Anika or Lyria who were walking blood banks of his. Gaius also took some books, got a set of clothes that commoners used to wear, and ripped a page out of a book that contained the map of the region.
When the day of Gaius' departure arrived, he acted normally or at least tried to. Every time he looked at his watch, time seemed to slow down.
When the hands finally moved to mark 9:00 pm Gaius stood up, strapped his space bag that contained everything he was going to need around his waistband, and recited a simple spell of the dark element.
'Me magnae tenebrae suscipiunt amplexu, et ab oculis emissiciis absconde me, in obscuro pallio absconde me: caligo umbrarum'.
After that, Gaius's body turned into a thick, dark mist that merged with the shadows in the room. So the mist camouflaged in the night going from shadow to shadow until leaving the mansion area.
Gaius' body rebuilt from the shadowy mist and Gaius began to run towards the duchy of Aztris. After running for 7:00 hours straight Gaius arrived in a village. Arriving at a small farm Gaius saw cows and sheep through his bloody vision, Gaius was looking for a mount but he found it strange to go to his destination riding a cow or a sheep.
He continued to scour the nearby farms until he saw something that resembled a horse. Arriving at the stable, Gaius saw a large black horse. The horse was strong and radiated power, it seemed to be quite expensive which made Gaius feel bad for 'borrowing' the horse without leaving something in return. So he left three silver coins and took the horse away.
