"My Queen, Your Royal Majesty, and Your Royal Highness, it is time we start the feast!"
Emanuel stepped in to save the day before this get-to-know-each-other could become more disastrous than it already was.
Damien looked at his parents conversing with the Vampire Queen and then tilted his gaze back to the princess, soon to be his wife, her eyes were fixed on the plate of food, untouched before her.
"The food is not to your liking? Is it?"
Ambrosia turned to look at the Prince, sitting right beside her. And to his surprise, almost all the plates of all the Vampire Elites were untouched, the food still looking pretty on it.
It was as if the plates of food they had taken to look upon rather than to feast. Lavanya too looked up from her plate at the Prince and the Princess, her cousin.
"You have not eaten anything. Is it because you would rather have blood and flesh than these cooked cuisines?"
Damien was curious. He had heard about the vampires and their way of life. But in the land of Mortals, there were no vampires.
Princess Ambrosia would be the first one to step inside the land of humans, more so as the future Queen of the land.
And listening to him, Ambrosia could tell that he knew nothing about the ways of lives of a Royal Vampire.
They did not feast with humans. But this event was an exception made to the King and Queen of the Mortals.
After it was decided by the new decree passed by the Great Vampire Queen that the vampires will become the sole fighters in the upcoming battle and that to strengthen them more, they were ought to be allowed to drink blood from the direct source.
The Queen had issued a new way of life for the Royal Elite Vampires to not dine with any mortals to show their supremacy by class and strength.
And as time passed, it became a trend that was even followed by vampires, who did not belong to the Royal Elite class either.
"Exactly. We like human blood to be served directly from the source, hot and not cold..."
Ambrosia hissed, showing off her sharp canines to the prince, thinking to scare him off and he might disagree to marry her.
If the Prince himself denied it then there would be no force to carry on with this bullshit arrangement.
"If you are trying to scare me, I believe Princess, you have to try harder!"
Damien said, picking up the glass of water and slowly sipping from it, trying to see that he was unfazed by her tactics.
And that made Lavanya break out into a fit of laughter but with one strong glare from her father, sitting across the table, she controlled herself.
Ambrosia rolled her eyes away and Celeste noticed it. She knew that her daughter would never be happy with this arrangement but it was not a question of the happiness of just one person anymore...the survival of the kingdom of Saunders depended on this partnership between the Mortals and her people.
"Could it be that we must allow our Prince and Princess to talk alone somewhere...get to know each other?"
Queen Delilah recommended, looking at her husband for approval and then back at Queen Celeste.
Celeste was not ready for that. She knew that if left alone, her untamed daughter could do something that might bring a strain on this arrangement.
"Gladly. They must at least learn to live with each other."
King Delaware said, agreeing to his wife's proposal. And out of obvious pressure, Celeste nodded even though she did not want to.
But before doing so, she wanted to have a word with her daughter. The way Ambrosia's lips curved into a sinister smile, Celeste knew that her daughter was going to ruin it once and for all.
Back in the Queen's chamber, Ambrosia entered and Celeste waved her hands in the air shutting the huge metal door instantly.
"I want you in your best...best behavior, Ambrosia...I mean it."
Celeste said and Ambrosia looked away from her mother's green eyes. But her mother held onto her face making her look into her eyes forcefully.
"And I do not mean it otherwise..."
The Queen completed. Ambrosia closed her eyes and broke out from her mother's hold, walking away towards the huge window.
"I do not want you to ruin this Brosi..."
"No...no you do not get to call me that..."
Ambrosia snapped at her mother the moment she called her by the pet name her father used to call her lovingly.
"I m your mother..."
"Do you act like one?
If father was alive, he would have never let this happen. "
She vehemently declared it to the Queen of the land of Saunders, in whom, she had ceased to see her own mother.
"Changing times call for tough unwanting decisions.
And I m doing what a Queen is ought to do. "
Celeste remarked, peeking at her daughter's golden eyes, exactly like her dead husband's.
"Irony here is that mother, you married for love and you are forcing your daughter?"
Ambrosia yelled out. Celeste remained unfazed by her own daughter's outburst.
"So don't you ever try to act as if you care...you care nothing more than to be sitting on that throne..."
"That Throne would someday belong to you..."
"I do not need it!!!"
Ambrosia shouted it out loud enough to be heard by the standing guards stationed out by the Queen's chamber.
She was about to walk past her mother, having had enough of her drama but Celeste caught hold of her daughter.
"If you cannot listen to your mother then as a Queen, I command you to obey me."
Ambrosia glanced back at her mother, not expecting her to pull out the cards in such a way because nobody disobeys the Queen.
Even if the Queen asked for your life, you must give it to her...the significance of this arrangement was that it was best to be exploited by the Queen than face a bloody war.
"You swore your allegiance to me."
Celeste stressed and Ambrosia snatched her wrist out of her mother's hold and walked away, not before bowing down as anyone did to the Queen, even though before she avoided doing that.
