And the ones that already knew the truth tactfully closed their mouth hence preventing Xavier's secret from knowing to outsiders. It was not like Xavier asked them to keep his powers a secret, but it was more like the right thing to do. Him being an immortal beastman was already enough in boosting his tribesmen's egos, so disclosing more of his mystic powers might cause them to act recklessly toward the others tribes.
