Leonard followed the man from behind until they arrived at a certain door that seems to be far away from where the workers' desks were. The guy pointed at the door and said,
"That's the manager's office. Make sure to knock, and when he permits you to come in, you go in".
Leonard nodded his head in understanding, then the guy said once again, "I wish you good luck". Then he walked away.
Leonard strolled over to the door and began thinking what the manager's face and personality would be like. Would his face be fierce and personality arrogant? Or would he have such a mild face and cool personality? Well, he'll have to find out by knocking on the door and getting permission to enter.
He knocked on the door, and he didn't need to knock twice before he heard a voice resound from inside the office, "Who is that?".
"It's me, Leonard. A guy that just came to see if he could get employed in this company". Leonard retorted, he made sure his voice wasn't shaky.
After about ten seconds of making that statement, Leonard heard, "Come in".
He turned the doorknob, opened the door, and stepped into the office. And there the manager was sitting on a chair with a table in his front and some documents on top of the table. His office was cool, you know, everything was kept in its proper place. And the manager's face didn't look intimidating at all, in fact, it was close to cool.
Leonard could tell that he was in his 'Forties just by glancing at his face, and he had a mustache and some beards under his jaw. He wasn't an ugly-looking man and he wasn't pot-bellied, he was handsome to his level.
"Come sit down, young man". The manager said to Leonard beckoning him to come sit on the chair at the other side of the table.
And Leonard did just that, he sauntered to the chair and sat on it not making eye contact with the manager. After filling some things in a document with the pen in his hand, he dropped the pen and said to Leonard,
"According to what I heard you say, you came to see if you could get employed in this company. Now, why do you think you could get employment in this company?". What sort of question is that? Such a confusing and tricky question.
Using his discernment, Leonard responded, "I know I could get employed in this company 'cause there are current job vacancies in this company. The finance and marketing departments needs fill in".
The manager smiled, nodded his head, and uttered, "Now, that's a nice answer to my question. So, which of the two departments are you interested in?".
"The marketing department".
"Why the marketing department?".
"Because that's what I'm good at".
The manager rubbed his jaw with his fingers, then he inquired of Leonard, "Are you with your CV here? Did you bring it?".
"Yeah, it's with me. It's not printed though, it's handwritten". Leonard responded bringing out the forged CV from his pocket.
"No prob".
He handed it over to the manager as the manager started reading its contents immediately. Done reading it, he asked Leonard,
"Oh! You've worked in this construction company before?".
"Yeah. According to what I wrote in my CV, I worked there for 8 months in the marketing department. But I left 'cause of the pay, it wasn't enough from the very beginning, and they didn't plan on increasing it".
The manager nodded his head once again, then he uttered, "I can guarantee you that our pay here is very good, especially if you're hardworking. But if it isn't good for you, then you must be a gold digger. Though your CV has made it clear that you're well experienced in the construction company sector and the marketing department under construction, I still have some questions to ask you. Not that I'm doubting what you wrote on your CV, I just want to be sure".
"No prob, I'm fully ready". Leonard uttered, it's about time to make use of all that the system taught him.
The manager first started with questions about a construction company, questions that could confuse someone. Using all that the system taught him, Leonard answered the questions one by one. The manager then brought out tougher questions about a construction company, but to his surprise, Leonard answered them all. That impressed the manager, but he wasn't done yet.
He then diverted to questions about the marketing department under construction, and Leonard answered them one after the other. It got to a time when Leonard got confused and forgot some essential things, but with some deep thinking, he revived those memories and gave answers to the manager's questions. Then the manager diverted to tougher questions about the marketing department.
Using all that the system taught him, Leonard made sure not to slack off, he answered all his questions. Now, the manager was fully impressed, it was evident on his face, and Leonard had noticed it. He said to Leonard,
"Workers under the marketing department rarely goes to the construction sites 'cause their work doesn't have much concern with it. But have you been to a construction site before? I'm speaking in terms of your former company's projects".
No, he hasn't been to a construction site under any company's project, but he'll have to lie, he's been doing that for some time now.
"Yeah, I've been to a construction site before, more than once".
"That's nice, our company is currently working on two huge constructions, I'll like you to come to the sites sometime later". The manager stated.
"Definitely, I'll love to come. Does this mean that I've gotten the job?". Leonard asked with a type of excited facial expression.
"Yeah, you've gotten the job, you're officially an employee of the 'Q and R construction company". The manager uttered forwarding his hand to Leonard for a handshake.
Leonard received the handshake with a smile on his face, then he stated, "Thanks, I so much appreciate it".
The manager nodded his head a little and said, "I'm giving you this job 'cause you know what you came here for. You answered all my questions correctly, which shows that you are well-experienced in the construction company sector. You're not the first person to come here for the job interview, about three other people came here some days ago before you...two males and one female. But none of them were able to answer my questions to my satisfaction,
But you satisfied me with your answers, that proves all that you wrote on your CV, the job is all yours. What's remaining is for me to get a good worker to fill in the blank space in the finance department. Now, let's talk about your pay and some other things".
The manager told Leonard how much his salary would be, and it was a very reasonable amount. The manager even told him that they do give bonuses every week, each worker would collect theirs. The system had already informed him about this. Then he told Leonard about the working time,
"There are seven days in a week, Sunday to Saturday. You'll come to work from Monday to Friday, Saturday and Sunday is free time for you. And you know, hard work is very important in this company. You'll have to cooperate with your team to do a good job always, I'm referring to the other workers in the marketing department. Hope you understand all that I've been saying?".
"Yeah, I do". Leonard retorted.
"Now, would you love to begin work today? Or would you start tomorrow?". The manager inquired of Leonard once again.
Normally, Leonard would have loved to begin work tomorrow, but he wanted to create a good impression on the manager. He's got to do this 'cause he needed to collect his salary very early, so he uttered,
"I'll love to begin work today".
"OK then, that's great. Let me go introduce you to the other workers of this company and show you your team".
The manager stood up from his chair, and Leonard did the same. The both of them then walked out of the office. Sauntering across the first floor, the manager informed all the workers there to stop whatever they were doing and come to the last floor, and so they did. Leonard and the manager began descending from the staircase until they arrived on the last floor.
Reaching the last floor, the manager informed all the workers there to stop whatever they were doing also and come out of their desk, and so they did. The workers on the first floor began descending the staircase reaching the last floor one after the other. The manager waited for them all to reach the last floor, then he placed his right arm over Leonard's shoulder and uttered,
"Guys, we have a new worker".
