"Time to get up," an annoying gnat whispered in her ear. Kyla was not a morning person, so she ignored the voice, turned over, and drifted.
"Babe, it's time to leave."
She opened one eye and peered up at him. Albert was dressed casually in cargo shorts.
"What time is it?"
"Eight-thirty."
"Good. Call me at nine."
"We have to get going soon, babe. You need to get ready," he said with a laugh. "You take forever to get ready."
"No, I do not. You are bugging." She pulled the pillow over her head to drown out his voice.
He lifted a corner of the pillow, letting light leak in. "If you get up and get dressed, I promise you the best cup of coffee you've ever had."
