A week passed in Glasgow Creeks with the usual drama surrounding the unsolved case and family who needed answers. Albert was neck-deep with work that left him with little or no time to communicate with Kyla. At first, the silence had been unbearable for her. That was probably because he was the one who called for the break and not her, though. Her mind went through a messy first three days but as the week came to an end, she realized that she needed the break too.
She got out of bed changed into casual clothes and, instead of heading to the kitchen hurried down the street to the nearest pub.
She needed warmth and people and noise. She needed a glass of red wine along with a hot meat pie and French fries smothered in gravy.
