Maryann's green-eyed gaze traveled from Albert to Kyla, and rested there, interest alive in her small face.
"Quite a coincidence meeting you here." Katie's smile didn't falter as she stretched out her arms for a hug.
It took Albert a moment to register what was going on but as soon as he did, he got to his feet and gave her an awkward side hug.
"Maryann," he nodded as a way of getting to his ex-wife and then gave her a once-over. She was wearing a black fitted gown that accentuated her best features. Her hair, although on a bandaged head, fell like a beautiful curtain around her shoulders. "You look much better." He said.
Kyla's dress suddenly felt too tight, the skin at her neck hot and prickly. She picked up her water glass and took a big gulp.
"I know, right?" Katie glanced at Maryann too. "It's like the accident made her ten times hotter." She laughed loudly. "I tell her all the time."
