Zenith, a Japanese restaurant in Glasgow Creek was dark and not what Albert had expected. The traditionally dressed Japanese waitress led both him and Maryann down a long hall that was made to feel like outside. The walkway was lined with rocks and slate stones, as if they were walking a path through an outdoor Asian garden. Both sides were lined with tall bamboo and lit with lanterns. They passed an opening to a large seating area, but the waitress kept going. At the end of the hallway, she seated them in a private booth, enclosed with luxurious, thick drapes. It was just as Maryann had asked. After she had taking their drink order, she pointed out the buzzer built into the table and told them they would not be intruded on unless they wanted to be. Then she disappeared, pulling the curtains closed. It felt like they were the only two people in the world, instead of inside a busy, posh restaurant.
