Chapter 1 - Breaking & Entering

The Berlin Virus or otherwise the "H4E2" started in 1919 just after World War 1 had come to a conclusion. The first major wave in 1920 saw the deaths of nearly 100 thousand on the first day, following this a extinction warning and the world came together to prevent this outbreak.

In this chaos a group was established, they were called the 'Zombie Defence Association' or the 'ZDC'. Since their establishment in 1930 they have battled against the Zombies.

In 1963 the first "Calamity Outbreak" of H4E2 hit the ZDA so badly that they nearly crumbled…In a quick decision they decided to make their most elite soldiers into their own special squads.

This follows Elixium one of the Special Ops Squads in the ZDA, The members are Aithen Ulthrian, he is the commander of the squad, Johnathan Chase, the second in command, Jackson Alias, Thomas Burgundy, Jake Daniels and the last member Kaylee Houey.

They each also have their own codenames, Aithen's is Zeus, Johnathan's is Klaus, Jackson's is Thor, Thomas is Tyr and Kaylee's is Freyja.

The story begins on June 7th 1987 after Elixium completed a long and difficult mission. They're all drained and just want to relax but that's an impossible thing to do in the ZDA. The problem is that they are way more tired than usual because they did 3 long missions back to back and have had barely any sleep.

Aithen was looking up into the bright sky. He hasn't seen it for quite some time. "Still looking at the sky Aithen?" Johnathan asked. "Yeah we might not see the sun in a while" Replied Aithen. "Hah the sun is the least of our damn concerns" Proclaimed Johnathan. Aithen looked around the room, it was still the same as when they first came here which was very empty. In the corner of the window AIthen spotted something weird, it was a small beacon that was flashing quite fast. "What is that?" Aithen thought but before he could figure out what it was we were once again called by ZDA.

"Hey, is everyone here?" Aithen shouted to make sure everyone was ready, one by one everyone shouted that they were here.

After everyone was present Aithen began explaining the mission that the ZDA gave us. "Okay everyone our mission today is highly secretive, we are going to investigate a ww2 facility used by the germans, we have intel that it was a research and testing facility and may be the key to finding the origin of these zombies, so we go in find everything out and leave, we have no idea what things could be inside get ready we're leaving at 12 o'clock" Announced Aithen. "Yeah yeah let's just go now" John said hastily.

Aithen walked into the weapons room, inside hadn't been looked after much, the wood walls were rotting and the wallpaper was peeled. "Jesus this place is still as awful as it was when we first came here" John shouted. Aithen ignored the obvious signs that the ZDA didn't care about it's army and went to grab his guns, His modified M16 called "The HeartStomper" and his trusty sniper rifle. Aithen looked around the room and everyone seemed like they were ready. Aithen then opened the door and walked out but just before he quietly whispered to himself. "Strange how i'm killing zombies but one of my friends is kinda a zombie" Unsurprisingly Johnathan had somehow heard and said "Yeah we all know" Aithen slightly jumped and shouted "What the hell John you scared the life outta me!"

Everyone walked out of the depressing room just as the time ticked 12'oclock. "Right, everyone, if you're not ready then you're going to die in a very gruesome way, so I hope you're ready," AIthen said. The radio tuned to the channel the helicopter was on and made an unnecessary buzzing noise that you couldn't turn off because it's agaisn't the rules. The Chief of the ZDA told us good luck and signed off the channel.

The helicopter flew down after waiting for the wind to clear and we hopped on signifying the mission has now officially started. Aithen looked out of the helicopter and down to the abandoned streets, there were no longer any humans apart from a few infected walking about.

After heavy winds and the constant noise of the propellers hitting against the wind we had successfully landed outside the Facility.

"It would be a shame to miss the sun again so can we please hurry up" Shouted Aithen. Everyone hopped off the rusted weared helicopter and waved the flyer bye. The outside of the Facility was in a horrible looking condition. There were long heavy vines from the roof down to the floor in a spiral like pattern and the very noticeable and large crackage in the wall.

"Well Well ain't this place a goddamn dump" grumbled John as he looked at the building. This place was truly a mess but it has been abandoned for so long.

John grabbed a door hoping the door would open wide up but it was jammed completely shut and to make things even worse the door handle fell off and dust flew off from the handle on impact. John looks around to try and find an open window or another door but strangely enough they're was no windows or doors on the side that we're on.

Aithen shouted to everyone at the team "Hey, everyone I've found a smashed window".

Elixium followed to Aithen and jumped inside. Although it's supposedly a Facility it seems like a normal building inside although apart from the complete ruins inside.

The walls were barely holding up and the roof was crumbling turning into dust as it fell and smashed into the cold ground. It was very clear that this was abandoned and hasn't been entered for decades.

Aithen's Point of View

I jumped through the window and landed softly onto the floor almost slipping on the rocky uneven ground. Every step I took was met with the ground falling into pieces…I sighed and thought "Guess that makes going upstairs impossible".

I looked behind me to see if everyone else was inside and sure enough they were, Jake had already slipped and fell onto the ground but Kaylee was already there to help Jake. Something must be up with those two, over the weeks they have gotten much closer.

I thought about them together and they work together really well but having a relationship is plain stupid…All of us will die on day to the zombies…One day our luck will run out and someone will bury us.

"That got dark real fast" I thought. Crashing noises came from behind me followed by "Hey! Aithen i found something" John shouted over to me.

I rushed to where he was and the crash noise seemed to have come from the safe that just fell down. "How'd you find that?" I asked him "I tugged on a vine and this came crashing down" John replied back.

"For god sake it's locked…Typical" John angrily shouted…"That's to be expected" I told him. We all took turns in trying to open the safe but every attempt was failing, "There's paper in the corner of it" Jack pointed out.

I picked the safe up, it was cold to my hands, I turned it around to find a small folded paper in the corner of the safe.

Full force I tugged it towards me just barely moving it. "Hah, I could do it easily," John Snarked. "I would like to see you try," I replied back.

I gave it to John to see if he could do it…He couldn't, John tugged with all his might but nothing happened…I don't think it's even moved a little bit.

We all took turns trying to pull the paper from the safe but again thoing happened. I thought about using something to pry it open but at that point we should just break the safe open.

I take my knife out and wedge it between the corner, I dug it further in and sliced across. "This safe is pretty weak" I thought. I continued going through all sides of the safe until a pop noise.

The safe was open and inside was a file with a long string of unreadable letters and numbers "VGhlIGZ1dHVyZSBvZiBNYW5raW5kLAoKSSBoYXZlIGRpc2NvdmVyZWQgaXQsIHRoZXJlIGlzIGFub3RoZXIgZGltZW5zaW9uIEkgbGFiZWwgZm9yIG5vdyAiRGltZW5zaW9uLTFiIgoKWW91IG1heSBjYWxsIG1lIGluc2FuZS4uLk1heWJlIEkgYW0gYnV0IHRoZXJlIGFyZSBoaWRlb3VzIGNyZWF0dXJlcyBpbiB0aGF0IERpbWVuc2lvbiB0aGF0IHNob3VsZCBORVZFUiBiZSB1bmxlYXNoZWQgb250byBvdXIgd29ybGQuCgpNeSByZWFzZXJjaCB3aWxsIGNvbnRpbnVlIGhvd2V2ZXIgdGhleSBhcmUgb24g

dG8gbWUuCgotIFphY2sgSG93ZXI=" "What was the point in this?" I thought, It must have some type of meaning.

I also got the wedged paper, unfolding that reveals another code this time being much simpler "90992".

Looking around I didn't notice anything that seemed out of the ordinary or something that needed a five digit code. "Hey! I found something" Kaylee shouted. We all went to her and infront of her was a staircase leading down into pure black.

We all turned our flashlight on and trekked down the dark stairs, at the bottom was a door with a keypad on it. My first thought was the code so I imputed it in. The door beeped and unlocked allowing our entry into the depths.

Inside this room were a few empty tables and worktops "Hmm, odd architecture" John shouted. I made my way to one of the tables, it was covered in a thick layer of dust. Swiping it away revealed a small book, the title was "Miyuki: The Forsaken" . It featured a girl named Miyuki and her quest for revenge.

"Never heard of this book before" I thought…I wonder how long it's been here for. "Hmm, I think I know the creator of this," John wondered. "What's the author's name?" I asked. "Something along the lines of Megan?...Morgan?...Mygan?...Something like that" John pondered.

Who has the name Mygan?...I gave the book a quick flick through but nothing was of importance so I put it back down on the table.

On the other table's were stack's of paper, old computers and microscopes. Again nothing that has stood out so far.

I continued going further into the room and came across a metal double door, with yet again another code. I tried "90992" but to no shock the code was denied.

"Damn it, There must be something here!" John shouted…Maybe a bit too loudly, if there were any zombies they would know where we are now.

Although this room is full of weird things and…Some useful things, there was nothing that stood out as a code.

"Maybe, try the code again but backwards now" Jake told Aithen.

I reached over to the rusted keypad again but this time I imputed "29909". To every one's surprise the code actually worked with a green light followed by the loud metal doors showing the black abyss from down below.
