Chapter 9 - Nine

Xiuwen was about to reply to the girl's words, but suddenly a middle-aged man came rushing into the shop. The pavilion owner's aunt was also confused and scared. She kept asking about what happened.

"The royal guards are coming again. They will definitely cause trouble!" said the man in an urgent voice. The pavilion visitors also looked scared, they then immediately prepared to leave.

Weiwei also felt confused. She then rushed over to ask what had happened.

"Why are you afraid of the palace guards?" she asked the paviliun owner's aunt. Weiwei's hand was tightly gripping the woman's arm, so she couldn't escape.

"Miss, you must be a newcomer so you don't know that the soldiers are do anything they want. They took money and girls from our place. Their behavior is no different from the bandits who used to plunder here. Miss, you better get going too!"

"That's right, we will leave soon," said Xiuwen who immediately grabbed Weiwei's hand until her grip on the paviliun owner was released.

"How could that be? I don't want to go!"

Xiuwen shook his head and tightened the grip on the girl's wrist.

"Don't be a hero and meddle in trouble!"

Weiwei felt very angry. She quickly attacked Xiuwen. However, the man immediately punched her so that she could not move.

"Miss Wen," Axiang rebuked as she looked panicked. While Weiwei kept asked very loudly to be released.

"It's so noisy," Xiuwen muttered as he took a piece of cloth and shut Weiwei's mouth. He then carried the girl's body on his shoulders and tilted his head at Axiang to follow him. Axiang immediately obeyed, while Weiwei couldn't help but curse inwardly. She continued to said various swearing and cursing at the man who brought her.

The people who came were indeed wearing royal soldiers' uniforms. They immediately ransacked the place. They are very angry when realized that area was empty. There is no money left for them.

'What is this? Why did they do that?' Weiwei asked silently. She, Xiuwen, and Axiang were hiding in a house that had almost collapsed. The house was located some distance from the soldiers. Because it has been dilapidated and worn, these people just skip it. Now Weiwei can only watch everything through the window that has been covered with dust.

There was a little boy being dragged by one of the soldiers. Didn't know how the little boy got caught. Weiwei choked, she wanted to be able to save the kid. However, she still could not move. Her feelings became more turbulent when she saw the little boy get hit. One of the soldiers even stepped on the back of the little boy who fell face down.

Weiwei was getting angry. She felt completely helpless and could only watch as the little boy screamed in pain. The scream seemed to slash and tear her heart.

Xiuwen turned to Weiwei and saw tears streaming down the girl's face. The black eyes stared back at him with anger.

"I will wipe your tears," Xiuwen said as he took out a handkerchief to wipe Weiwei's tears. Weiwei looked angry, but she was helpless. The blow had paralyzed her body and rendered her unable to move. Even though she felt very resentful, she couldn't help but remain silent, allowing Xiuwen to wipe the tears from his face.

Outside, a woman was seen running and pleading for the little boy to be released. Perhaps she was the boy's mother or relative. But when the young woman knelt down and cried, a soldier pulled her to her feet and then forcibly hugged her body. The woman continued to struggle, especially when he was about to kiss her.

"I'll let the kid go if you will to please me!"

Those words made the woman immediately shut up. The soldiers laughed while staring greedily as if to devour the woman's body.

Suddenly the man who grabbed the woman's body screamed in pain. A small knife seemed to stick in the palm of his hand. Blood oozed out of the wound.

"Let go of the woman and child!" someone's orders. The soldiers immediately alerted and not long after a black shadow attacked them. The soldiers were overwhelmed to face that person and defeat easily.

Weiwei's eyes widened in disbelief seeing the black masked figure standing outside.

'Dark Shadow? Isn't he a criminal? He also did the same as the soldiers, but why is he now helping people? Could this be just a ploy from him?'

The soldiers immediately fled while taking oaths of revenge. Xiuwen then took off his fist from Weiwei. Weiwei immediately ran out. But she did not find the Dark Shadow was there.

"He's gone. We should also hurry back to the city," said Xiuwen.

Weiwei knew it would be impossible for her to catch up to Dark Shadow. With her knowledged, that person sure has gone far. But she still wanted to vent her anger on Xiuwen

"Why did you stop me from helping them?" she asked, glaring at the man.

"Not everything gets better by meddling a trouble."

"Okay, you turned out is a coward. But don't involve me with your cowardice!"

"You've misunderstood."

"I don't need your explanation. We'd better get back to town and don't talk to me anymore!"

Weiwei and the others finally arrived at the Wind Sword College. As she walked in, the girl saw Yunfang and Xiaoying in the courtyard. The faces of the two people looked worried and gloomy.

"You don't miss me?" said Weiwei. The two of them turned around and rushed over to her. Xiaoying even hugged Weiwei tightly.

"Miss, where have you been? Why did you go without taking me?" asked the servant girl between sobs.

"Ouch, crybaby. I'm only gone for a while, you're like this. You usually don't care anyway. Every day you only think about Zhaoli."

"Miss," Xiaoying sulked while putting on a sullen face.

"I'm not like that. For me, Miss is still the main one. More important than Zhaoli."

"Yes, yes, I believe," said Weiwei with a small smile.

"Are you okay?" asked Yunfang who had been standing beside the two girls. Weiwei nodded. She then loosened Xiaoying's embrace and walked back towards the exit.

"Miss, do you want to go again?" asked Xiaoying who immediately followed. The girl's steps then stopped when she saw Weiwei walking with a girl she didn't know.

"Miss, she...."

"Oh, she's Axiang. Since her home and family are gone, I brought her here."

Weiwei then turned her gaze to Yunfang.

"Older Brother, she can help take care of the teacher. So, allow her to stay here, okay?"
