John did not have the time to realize how fast everything ended. It was as if Kai had tried to keep him away from everything, an attempt to make sure his inexperienced self was safe. He appreciated him for that. How he always had him in the back of his mind, his boss being the only person in this world he could consider family. At the same time though he felt utterly useless, lost in his own problems while the whole world was ready to crumble around him made him look insensible, egotistic even.
