"Winter." Who was trying to sneak into her apartment without Edith finding out? Had failed.
"Edith. Good afternoon."Winter said with a big smile on her face. Luckily she was wearing sunglasses to cover the horrible state her eyes were in.
Edith stared at Winter from head to toe. Her clothes were a mess and she reeked out of alcohol. She was drinking all night again.
"Listen. Winter. I have tolerated this for too long. You can't keep going to clubs like that parting and drinking all night." Edith said having enough of her immature behavior.
"I'm sorry for worrying you. But I was with a very trusted person. I was with Alex. He's such a good man." Winter said, warping her arm around Edith's shoulder.
"Alex?" Edith repeated.
"Yes. Alex. We spent the whole night together. Talking and recalling our youth days. I saw his fiancee. Such a lovely girl. And oh my. They look good to each other. I spent the night in his house. We didn't cross the line. Don't worry about him. Oh. I forgot to tell you how we met. We met in the club. No. He wasn't drinking." Winter continued on talking, not giving Edith the chance to say anything as they walked towards the direction of Edith's apartment.
"Now. I have to go. I have laundry to do. You must be busy too. I'll see you at dinner time." Winter said and kissed her on the cheek before she walked towards her apartment.
Edith knew that Winter was trying to evade her for some reason. She's hiding something. Something that she doesn't want her to find out and she had a feeling that it's something bad. Lately, she was making excuses even when she tried to enter the apartment. To find out what she is hiding. She needs to find a way to enter the apartment.
_______
Inside the apartment.
Winter had taken a quick shower and got dressed. She started to do the laundry and clean the house. Though there isn't much to clean. She had sold all the house furniture to get money to buy cocaine with.
"I'm so pathetic." She mumbled to herself as she looked around the empty apartment.
Winter felt ashamed of herself. But the addict side of her always wins. Once she starts wanting it. Her body starts to crave the feeling of being high. The feeling of being unstoppable. Being high. That's when she loses control and submits to the desire of having the liquid injected into her system again and again and again. There's no stopping. No red lights can stop her. All she thinks about is the good feelings of being numb and forgetting about everything.
Thinking about all of this made her mouth water and her body tingle all over. Craving for another fix. Though it hasn't been an hour since she last took it. Lately Winter she was having problems organizing her fix. She started to want more and whenever she wanted she needed to get. Leading her to spend more money and the money is becoming hard to provide to buy the amount that she needs.
Winter runs her hands through her hair. She let out a tired sigh. Thinking about this made her frustrated. She needed easy and ongoing money. But no job provides these conditions. She needed to find a solution soon.
Three hours later. Winter finally finished cleaning. Picking up her popcorn bowl. She walked to her room where she had turned the TV on. She decided to take it slow tonight and watch a movie. Relax and rest.
