Running her hands. Winter sighed. No messages and no missed calls. Aiden had ignored her completely. Well. She deserved it after what she said to him.
Edith was talking to Winter saying God knows what but she wasn't hearing anything of what she was saying. She was focused on her phone hoping that a message would arrive. Maybe it didn't arrive because of a bad connection.
But in the end. Her inbox received nothing from him. Winter bite her lower lip feeling guilty and scared. Doubts and questions started to pop in her head.
Does he not want to talk to her again? Did he hate her for what she said?
Many questions popped into her mind. She became restless. Worry started to take over her and she didn't know what to do.
Winter heated the way she was feeling right now. She wanted to call him but Edith was here and there Was no way she was going to call him in front of her. If she finds out she will start raining questions over her and she isn't ready for it.
But she couldn't take the sadness and the heaviness in her chest. She needed to call him.
"Excuse me for a moment." Winter said, standing up from her stool and walking out of the kitchen towards her room.
Edith turned to look behind her wondering what happened.
Inside the room. Winter tried to call Aiden and the call was delivered to the voicemail. At first, she hesitated for a second pondering over whether to leave a voice message or not. And in the end. She did.
Hanging up the call. Winter went back to Edith. She spent an hour with her before she finally decided to leave to check on her husband and Winter couldn't be more thankful for that.
Now that she was alone. Winter was becoming restless. Aiden hadn't replied to her calls yet. Maybe he was busy or maybe he was in a meeting. She just has to wait and stop overthinking.
The first hour passed and Winter tried to busy herself with doing the laundry and cleaning the kitchen and around the house.
The second hour. She spent time listening to music and checking her phone now and then.
And finally, When it left two minutes before it hit the third hour, The phone screen flashed. The incoming call that she was waiting for finally came.
With shaking hands. She picked up the phone and answered the call.
"Hello." Winter replied with an urgency that was evident in her voice.
"Winter. What's wrong with your voice? Were you crying?" Aiden asked, noticing how hoarse her voice was. As if she was crying.
Winter reached to wipe the tears off her face and smiled. He wasn't able to see it. But she was happy to hear his voice again.
"Yes. I was crying because of you." She replied and then sniffed.
Aiden, who was driving his car, chuckled and pulled over on the side of the road, and stopped the car.
"Me? And what did I do? If I recall correctly, You said very harsh words to me the last time we spoke." Aiden spoke, reminding her.
Winter's body stiffened. She thought that he had already forgotten about this. Truth is, She did say some harsh words to him. But that was because she was both high and drunk. But of course, she can't say that to him.
"I'm sorry." That's all she managed to say.
Noticing how quiet she was being. Aiden knew that he had hit a nerve. He decided to forgive this time. But only after he punished her.
"Let's meet and talk. How that sounds." He offered.
"Yes. But, we can't meet at my place." She replied immediately.
Aiden let out a soft laugh and said."Okay. I will send you the address."
