Chapter 1 - Prologue

I wasn't always one of the Lifeless ones. You know this cold Iron skin of mine was a golden bronzed hazel like my eyes. A fierce stiff head of black hair. Not so long ago I was a seven-time world champion. A newly rich man, I was an acquired handsome nothing looks better than new money.

I was on the final hidden level of the Temple of the Apocalypse, an undead city. Its central Ziggurat is made of a dark stone that is both green and gold yet not quite. On the roof of the Ziggurat is the final boss Kletis. A true lord of the Underverse. A demon god in every sense of the word. Ever since i crossed paths with him as a level fifty paladin I have been hunting him.

I was a level four hundred Exalted, Basically a living vessel for a light God in Paladin form. Man, I was powerful every one of my slashes folded light around my sword producing multiply attacks with one swing. My chants reaped the undead like a mower through the grass. Here in this undead zone, I am their righteous doom. With my faith as my shield and my lords' blessing as my power, I was truly unstoppable until him.

Kletis the blue-skinned, golden-eyed, plague slinging death knight. He was clad in magic heavy armour. His weapon is not normal either. Cursed by the best Bloodsmiths and Cursemancers in Ota the hell realm. It is both a simple ornament and a magic weapon a very deadly one. In its simple form is a gregarious pocket watch inlaid with all kinds of valuable ornaments like the essence of spirits. The pocket watchs' ability to grab your attention and put one in some kind of illusion is devious and subtle only through my god-given wisdom was I able to break through it. Kletis used it as a magical tome.

For hours I had to face his spells. He summoned a mini-apocalypse. I faced four princes of the void. Four of that evil lady snatching, beautiful bastards. Still, I killed each of them, those pretty bitches didn't last as long as Kletis. Noone lasted as long as him, not even me.

Then came the Dread Horde, insects to me but nonetheless powerful. They made up for their lack of raw destructive power through numbers. It still baffles my mind how summoning a million Eldritch Necrotic Phages is suppose to be fair. If I hadn't had a special aura that multiples my power for every enemy within a kilometre I don't think I would have survived. I flowed like Madara through the ninja army. Flawless and brutal, a savage sensual mauling of my enemies. During this three hour fight, my stream of sixty-seven million viewers jumped over the hundred million mark.

Finally, it was the Wretches turn, those slick beauties. Ravaged my mind, as a pure lawful good player. I had few defences from all the mental attacks and illusions. If not for my faith I doubt I would have made it out to face Kletis. Somehow I managed with my purity intact too.

Facing him was both terrifying and exhilarating, every time he attacked my defences would buckle. Layers of prayer scrolls crumbled to dust. Seventeen different life saving holy relics were wasted to remove Kletis's health down to half. I thought I was lucky as Kletis health dropped he stopped using magic.

Only once I faced him in a dual did I realize, how wrong I was. Kletis is a master of the scythe. He moved into me occupying his optimal range and dictating the pace of the fight. In his hands, the scythe was an extension of his will. I would attack and Kletis would block effortlessly, I mean I couldn't help but admire the form. Kletis had called the form Nubius. Popularized by the first Reaper, life stealer, Plague Warden the true God of Death and his father.

Kletis rumbled a lot but it helped I took every chance he gave me to recover. To lay new plans that were all reaped by his scythe. He even as the son of the death God never knew his name, never seen the death gods' face or even heard him say anything. That was Kletis's drive, can you imagine that he conquered the Underverse, laid waste to the shadow realm and killed his siblings subjected a thousand kingdoms all to get the attention of his father. It never happened though even as I the last hero of Neumeria was in his grasps nothing. Then I knew I could win Kletis need for father was a weakness. Undead are people who were once alive died and were reborn as some kind of undead. Lifeless are different they are living death, Necroforce flows through each of them. These are true rulers of Moribund, the first outbreaks were lead from these Lifeless lands.

I twisted his desire with my righteous tongue, I promised him that which he wanted most a lead on his father. Of course, I had one inside the temple of the god of Light Unibas. Also, the defence wards in there are only triggered by Lifeless ones. It was not as anti-climatic as you imagine. Fighting a warded Lifeless is like fighting an enraged barbarian. Solitary brutal and Short...

That's was how I conquered the VRMMORPG: Neumeria. I defeated the final boss and was awarded the golden ticket. My fans were flooding my stream with so many messages that it crashed my stream. The golden ticket was as big as those lottery cards we always see on tv when someone wins. IT sparkled and all kinds of trumpets and loud humming of angels was playing. Then it happened I was happy. Unibas himself appear draped in living light, the anointed, The dawn Star, Lord of Light. He Spoke to him as always using my voice in my head. Still, I was happy, truly happy as an Exalted, I was the living vessel of his Dawn Essence being in his presence made me more powerful. It never occurred to me that this god my lord and saviour would trick me.

Just like I did to Kletis, his sunkissed honey lathered words, filled my starving ears. He seized my desire in his hands and carefully promised each and everything I have ever wanted. He explained I was the third and final requirement of his plan to bring real heroes to the real Neumeria. No, don't be silly I didn't need to be convinced, when talking to a real god there is no doubt. No need to question I knew because he wanted me to know and that was that.

The foolish me accepted without a second thought, of course, I would fight for my god. He is real imagine that without a shadow of a doubt. I knew a god, who history wasn't filled with murder and contradictions. A portal appeared to lead me to the real-world version of Neumeria...

Deep inside the god realm on the cloud temple of the light is Easerael, sits sipping on honeyed wine gorging his rotund holy form in the delights of life. A smiling Unibas walks in his light form dimming to something less ostentatious. Throwing himself at the Destiny Diner in front peering into the fate woven wood made from the elder world tree branches. This destiny diner is one of three Fate relics each is connected to one of his agents planted in Neumeria.

Easerael ponders why his old is so happy, unable to control his curiosity any further he looks back in time to Unibas's recent interactions and nearly chokes on the last. Seeing how strong and precarious Pluto Young's destiny is surprises him. The Fates of several worlds are intertwined with him. Feeling a sudden headache he hisses at Unibas, "You could have waited until I was done asshole." Rubbing his strained eyes and accidentally on purpose causing a storm in a lower realm where a certain Lifeless has just reincarnated in.

Unibas says, "I know what you are doing little brother watch you don't overstep and land up like your father." Unibas' real voice is deep as a mountain mine lined with veins of pure molten platinum. Waves of servants and other heavenly beings return from the ether presenting themselves to the two God-Kings. Who continue as if the other Gods are nothing more than bugs underfoot.

Easerael says, " You always bring him up!" The memory is a sore point between them as they don't share a father thus his death at the hands of his own children is something Easerael is ashamed of. He pours the honeyed wine over another one of the agents giving that agent a blessing. Unibas raises an eyebrow, the agent is probably his best-kept secret or at least was. Unibas controls all his thoughts leaving the way for fate to see his future actions. The gods settle and start to watch their working unweave themselves...
