Chapter 59 - Blacksmithing

Heading to the Inn they heard about from one of the merchants, they walked around for 20 minutes until they finally found it.

Going inside and getting a room didnt take long, however they did have to pay a gold coin to stay there for 2 weeks in game. Thankfully they only needed one room so it didnt cost more than that.

Looking at the time Silver could see it was a little after 10 so it would be a little early to log off for lunch.

Deciding to stay on and go to the blacksmiths instead he parted ways with Rachel and Rianna and left them 35 of the Echo Bat fangs. Keeping the remainder on him in his alchemy bag, he walked down the cobble street to a nice looking shop with a anvil on the sign that hung above the door.

'This should be the place.' He thought while walking in to find a decent looking lady sitting at a counter oposit the door.

Looking around the shop from the doorway, he could see weapons lineing the walls and a few glass case's that held some weapons in them that were lined up near the counter.

Walking right up to the woman behind the counter to ask about Blacksmithing, He disregarded the weapons as he wanted to try his best not to get distracted.

"Excuse me but I'm looking for someone to teach me blacksmithing." He said hopeing this was the right location.

Seeing the woman looking him up and down before speaking he could tell she must of lost interest as she went back to what she was doing under the desk.

"My dad is out back in his forge. If you want to learn from him then you will need to pay 2 gold coins or material of equal value." She replyed with a monotone voice

Takeing out 2 of the gold coins out of what Fraya had given him and putting them on the counter before waiting for the woman to stop looking at him in shock. It was clear this woman didnt have a good impression of him from the very start even though she didnt know anything about him.

Putting down a trinket she had in her hands and grabbing the gold coins she got up and walked to the doorway that lead to the back of the store.

"Dad! we got a customer that wants to see you." The Woman yelled from the doorway.

Waiting a few minutes until he heard the sound of a door closeing and footsteps. He looked in the direction of the back room to see who would be teaching him.

"I thought I told you not to interrupt me when im working Jade." A bulky man walked out from the back room.

"Well what am I supposed to do when you also told me to let you know when someone shows up asking to learn blacksmithing?" Jade retorted.

Hearing Jade, the bulky man looked over to Silver and also looked him up and down. Just stareing at him for what seemed to be forever before speaking, the man didnt sound all to happy.

"Has the boy already payed?" Was all the bulky man said.

"He has." Jade replyed.

"Then follow me. I dont have all day to teach you how to use a hammer and I'm only teaching you the basics. From there you will need to learn yourself." The bulky man said as he walked back into the back room.

Following behind him quickly he could feel a pair of eyes lingering on him until he was fully into the back of the shop. After quickly catching up to the bulky man and looking around he could see a sealed room ahead of them.

The bulky man lead them into the sealed room that had a bunker like door. Looking around in curiosity, he could see a anvil sitting in front of a extremely hot forge as well as many tools and piles of metal as well as a pile of red crystal like stones.

"How could you hear her if this room is sealed?"He asked the question that was on his mind after watching the bulky man sealing the door.

"Did you come here to learn to blacksmith or to ask about my daughter's magical powers?" The bulky man asked.

"To learn blacksmithing." He replyed in a small voice after realizing that question was probably personal.

"My daughter uses sound magic to get through this thick steel. Other than that no sound can penetrate it, so you dont have to worry about messing up do to any sound comeing from outside." Smileing a little the Bulky man spoke as he pounded the steal wall with his fist.

"Now then, im going to teach you as you make your first weapon." The bulky man said as he moved to stand behind the seat near the anvil.

Moveing over to sit in front of the anvil Silver waited for the man to tell him what to do.

"Pick out the material you want to make a weapon out of from that pile in the box to your left." The bulky man instructed.

Looking to his left he could see a box slightly behind him that was filled with metal scraps. Rummaging through the metal scraps he found a slightly blue tinted metal and decide it would work even though it was a little small compaired to the other metals in the box.

"Hmm..." The bulky man hummed in curiosity from Silvers choice in metal.

"Why did you pick that metal over the others?" The bulky man couldn't help but satisfy his curiosity.

"Its the only metal in here that looks like this and it's blue tint reminds me of a flower i once had seen." He replyed with what was going through his mind when he was picking.

"Now then I want you to toss a few of those stones in the fire to heat it up. The metal you chose has a very high melting point so it might get a little hot in here." The bulky man said after staying quiet for a short period of time.

Doing as The bulky man said Silver grabed a red crystal like stones and tossed them into the fire. The room slowly started to get extremely hot and it was to the point that he had to take off his cloak and shirt just to not pass out.

Hearing the bulky man laugh before seeing a shirt that looked a lot like the one the Bulky man was wearing get tossed to the side.

"Told you it would get hot in here. Sadly it's still not hot enough for that metal. Toss anouther two in and then the fire will be ready to start melting." The bulky man said to his surprise.

Looking at the raging fire that should of melted the forge at this point, he reluctantly tossed another two red crystal like stones into the fire and felt a gust of hot air hit his skin.

"Now then, use the tongs and stick your metal in the fire." The bulky man said when the fire looked to be almost like a fire you would expect to see in hell.

Doing as told, Silver put down the metal on the anvil and picked it back up with the tongs that were to the side. Slideing the metal into the fire he could feel the fire as the heat touched his skin. The heat was indescribable as it wasnt burning him but it wasnt a pleasant feeling.

Holding the metal in the fire until he was told to take it out he picked up the Hammer as instructed and started to hammer away at the metal while imbueing the Hammer with his Mana.

Seeing this the Bulky man was surprised since he was just about to tell Silver that if he wanted to quicken the pase of crafting he would need to imbue mana but by the looks of it, he was already doing that. After deciding not to say anything more, the bulky man stayed quite until the next step of crafting would need to be explained.

"Now then throw anouther of those stones into the fire and then put the metal back into the fire and repeat until I tell you otherwise." The bulky man said as he was pleased with how Silver was doing so far.

Following as instructed he did exactly as the bulky man instructed until the metal became a decent sized and long one sided blade like shape.

"Very good, now you need to work on the part were the handle will be attached. Start to hammer it down to something like this." The bulky man said as he held a blade he already made that had yet to have a handle attached to it.

Looking at the blade that had a long and thin end where the handle should of been, he started to do the same with his piece of metal while still hamering on the blade to make sure it kept its shape.

Bringing the blade close to what he was shown before, Silver waited for more instructions.

"Now then you need to quench the blade and then temper it." The bulky man said before explaining the process.

Doing exactly as the bulky man told him to do he first quenched the blade and then tempered it. Both processes were hard and Silver thought he messed up but the bulky man said it was good for his first attempt.

Finally getting to the point of sharpening the weapon the bulky man took him to the grind wheel and showed him how to work it.

Doing exactly as shown Silver proceeded to sharpen his first blade until the blade could cut his finger just from touching the blade by accident when examining it.

Seeing the blade was done other than a handle the bulky man took a look at the blade and had to admit it was not something a newbie should of made.

"Nicely done. Now then lets make that handle to finish the weapon." Patting Silvers back and laughing a little the bulky man praised him while saying they needed to finish the blade.

Showing Silver how to make the handle the bulky man did his best to instruct him on how to make a handle that would fit the slightly long one sided dagger.

Picking 2 smaller black pieces of metal out of the pile he started to make a handle for the blade like the bulky man had instructed him to do so.

After fixing the blade and handle together he received a line of text scrolling across his retinas.

[??????? blade has been created]

[Please name the blade you have created or a name will be given to ??????? at random.]

Looking down at the long one sided dagger that was a cross between his Moon Keeper and a Dagger he couldnt decide on a name so he let it get named at random.
