Upon entering the portal, Marcus' vision distorted and everything around him suddenly went dark. At that moment, he found himself floating in an endless dark space. There was no sound, no concept of up or down. Just an infinite void.
After a few moments that seemed like an eternity, Marcus' empty eye sockets caught a small flash of light in front of him. At the same time, he felt a sucking force pulling him into the light. Gradually, the darkness and emptiness around him dissipated and he was enveloped in total whiteness.
Marcus felt himself being pulled forward. His body emerged from the oval portal and his feet touched solid ground. He had to try hard not to stumble and fall as the feeling of weightlessness had slightly affected his sense of balance.
