Chapter 15 - The Plague In the City, The Key To the Antidote

"Necromancer?"

Xiao Qian trembled when she heard this word. She held onto [Xuebang Xiaowei]'s arm tightly.

"Sister Wei, don't scare me. I can't take it."

"Who wants to scare you? I'm making a reasonable guess. Let's hurry up and get to Gold Coast City as soon as possible."

The six of them quickly ran.

Four hours later, the doppelganger, Ceci, and the other 10 B1 Battle Droids finally arrived at Gold Coast City. It was already evening. The city walls of Gold Coast City looked a little dark, and there were fully armored soldiers standing at the entrance.

When the doppelganger and the others arrived at the city gate, the two soldiers drew their swords from their waists.

"Who are you? Why are you here?"

The doppelganger was about to speak when Ceci stood up.

"We are adventurers who are traveling outside. We came here today to rest for a night and continue our journey tomorrow."

"Oh, adventurers. Go in."

Ceci and the doppelganger walked through the city gate, but when the ten B1 Battle Droids approached the city gate, the two soldiers became nervous again.

"This is? A magic puppet?! Which one of you is a mage?"

Ceci poked the doppelganger with his elbow, and the doppelganger immediately raised his hand.

"I'm a mage. What can I do for you?"

"Respected mage, please follow me."

A soldier immediately welcomed the doppelganger and Ceci into the city. The doppelganger and Ceci wanted to look at each other, but they saw the confusion in each other's eyes. The two shrugged and followed the soldier into the city.

Within a few minutes of entering the city, the doppelganger realized that something was wrong. Every household in the city had their doors tightly shut, as if there were demons wreaking havoc in the city.

"May I ask, what has happened in the city recently? Why are every household's doors closed?"

"Ah, it's like this. A few months ago, a plague suddenly occurred in the city. The City Lord sent three priests to study the antidote to the plague, and at the same time, he asked us soldiers to let every household stay at home. However, so much time has passed, and the antidote has yet to be completed. The City Lord has issued a mission to the entire continent, hoping that more mages will come to solve this problem."

"So, my arrival is considered to have solved your urgent problem?"

"That's right."

The few of them arrived at the City Lord's mansion. Under the lead of the soldiers, the doppelganger and Ceci met the City Lord. At this moment, the City Lord's head was already full of white hair, and his face had become rather haggard. He looked at the documents on the table in front of him and could not help but sigh.

"Sir City Lord, I have brought a mage here."

"Mage?!"

When the City Lord heard this, he immediately stood up. He looked at the doppelganger and Ceci, and spoke with a slightly puzzled tone.

"May I ask who is the mage?"

The doppelganger bowed slightly.

"I am a mage, but I specialize in the direction of magic puppets."

"Then do you know about magic potions?"

The corners of the doppelganger's brows twitched, and he nodded with a little hesitation.

"A little."

"That's great! Soldier, quickly bring this mage to Priest Hill and let him help her complete the potion."

"Yes!"

Ceci looked at the doppelganger, and the doppelganger gave him a thumbs up, indicating that there would be no problems. This made Ceci admire him even more.

"I didn't expect Boss to be able to handle such a situation so easily. The Oscar should be given to Boss!"

The doppelganger led by the soldier came to a small room in the City Lord's mansion. As soon as he opened the door, the doppelganger smelled a strong smell of medicine.

In the room, a woman dressed in a priest's uniform was looking at the medicine in the pot with a sad face.

"No, it still can't be done. The method and execution are all right. Why can't the plague be completely expelled?"

The doppelganger looked at the depressed priest and coughed twice.

"Hello, Priest Hill. I am a mage sent by the castellan."

"Mage?!"

Priest Hill suddenly stood up, turned her head to look at the doppelganger, and looked at the doppelganger in surprise.

"The City Lord has finally invited a mage?! Come quickly!"

Hill grabbed the doppelganger's hand, and the gentle touch made the doppelganger blush.

The two of them came before the pot of potion and Hill began to explain the pot to him.

"I used the Sober Grass to make this pot of potion. The Poison Removing Flower and Lily Leaf, which can be used to expel toxins, should have been useful, but the plague sufferer had no reaction after drinking it. I don't know what to do now."

The doppelganger looked at the pot of green potion. Suddenly, a paragraph appeared in his eyes.

[Antidote Potion]

[Effect: Able to cure most plagues.]

[Current situation: It has no effect on the Plague Curse cast by the Necromancer.]

[Solution: Add some Mermaid's Ink Beads and let the spirit energy pour into this pot of potion to break the Necromancer's Plague Curse.]

"Hmm, hmm, I think I have an idea."

The doppelganger pretended to nod deeply.

"The Antidote Potion has a very strong effect on most of the toxins, but Priest Hill, have you ever thought that this plague is not an ordinary plague?"

Priest Hill shook her head.

"The patient's condition is the same as when we encountered the plague in the past. That's why I've been working hard on the Antidote Potion and have no time to think about anything else."

"So, you never thought that it was a Necromancer who cast a Plague Curse on the residents of the city."

"A curse?"

"Necromancer?! That kind of scum that God won't tolerate?!"

Priest Hill gripped the cross on her chest and began to pray in a low voice. Meanwhile, Cole's doppelganger began to circle around the pot of antidote.

"There's nothing wrong with the potion, but we still need to add another material to make it effective."

"What material?!"

"The Mermaid's Ink Bead! The Mermaid's Ink Bead has the effect of spirit energy. Use spirit energy to break the Necromancer's Plague Curse. The residents who are affected by the plague will definitely recover completely."

Priest Hill looked at the doppelganger in shock. She had never expected that the plague problem that had troubled her for months would be solved in less than ten minutes after the new mage arrived.

"But Mermaid's Ink Beads are very difficult to obtain... Sigh, many residents are going to be tortured to death by the plague..."

Seeing Priest Hill begin to recite the eulogy, the doppelganger rolled his eyes at her. He walked out of the room and beckoned for its ten B1 Battle Robots.

"You guys, do you still have any extra Mermaid's Ink Beads?"

The ten robots looked at each other, almost shaking their heads. The remaining one thought for a while before raising its hand.

"I! I! I should still have an ink bead in my storage."

The B1 Battle Robot turned around and ejected the storage from its back. An ink bead the size of a ping pong ball appeared in the storage.

The doppelganger took out the ink bead and walked in front of Priest Hill. He turned around to look at her.

"Sometimes, you have to be prepared in order to be safe."

With that, the clone crushed the ink bead in his hand and sprinkled the powder into the potion.
