"Hmm . . . you're so bold coming here in my domain. Aren't you afraid that I'd kill you? Or Charles would get wind of this and kill you himself?"
I didn't blink nor bat an eyelid. My stoic face remained the same, and my sleepy eyes took in Vein's appearance, who was sitting in front of me.
He appeared like a kid who loves to prank for the fun of it. He always had that mischievous grin on his face. He was almost harmless if not for his emerald eyes that glowed in a menacing way.
"Charles would never hurt me," I said in confidence. Though he succeeded in hurting me mentally by not seeing and talking to me for a month as punishment.
Though the punishment was light compared to Veronica and Patricia, who were stripped of their mistresses' status, I was never a mistress in the first place. I was a guess, according to Charles.
But not being able to see him nor talk to him was agonizing and infuriating –– all because of Catherine.
