"Besides," he added and captured my attention with a smirk on his face, "I wouldn't miss this chance to gather half of the purebloods. Too bad for Vladimir, Charles, and Ludwig, but dragging Beatrix and Vein here is already an accomplishment. Even the elders are complete in attendance for once. They're quite the slippery vampires to catch."
I was confused.
Rhazien flashed a sweet smile, one that turned his eyes crescent but sent a shiver to every bone in my body.
"Everyone is curious about you, so I took advantage of it and announced that you'll be appearing in court today."
He let out a small laugh, pleased with himself. "I honestly didn't think you'd be this popular, Lady Catherine. All thanks to Charles's appeal. They wanted to know if you really resembled Lady Emelia that much for Charles to push the rites of your mating rituals with the council."
