Chapter 10 - Curses

Among all the ways to die, there is one that is the worst...dying without being able to accomplish what you always wanted at the hands of the person you love, and that's how I reenacted as an undertaker in another world.

Howl: -Are you sure about that, Tulip? – worried about something.

Tulip: -I would never be wrong about anything with that, I know what I saw. – putting his hand on his face.

Sakegi: -What are you talking about? – being ignored by them.

Howl: -what does he want around here after all this time...and all the harm he's done. – crossing the feathers of the wings in a way of thinking.

Tulipa: -I don't know...but that changes everything...I have to warn the others. – looking at the black parasol.

Howl: -Yes, I will take care of lifting the veil in the city. – picking up the branch. – we can't let that happen again. – seeing visions of bloodied bodies.

Sakegi: -Can someone explain to me what the hell is going on here! - yells loudly.

Howl: -It's true you don't know anything. – avoiding looking at him.

Madame: -that being in the smoke... we know who it is. – recovering from the crash.

Holw sighs deeply and leaves the chair where he was, heading to the front of Eitor's painting, he looks at it for a fear that begins to speak.

-a long time ago, when the doctor was among us, he met someone on one of his missions, I was very little at the time and I don't remember everything but I remember as if it were today that woman cursing him.

(Flashback)

-We were traveling north on the orders of Prince Albert, it was supposed to be a recon mission to get information about a possible entity that was causing chaos in the region, however.

Eitor: -This doesn't seem to me to be the work of a simple entity... - analyzing a twisted body on the sidewalk.

Howl: -Doctor, what could have caused this? A calamity? – still small.

Howg: -don't be silly, Holw, calamities don't come out in the light of day - still small.

Howl: -so what is it? – leaves the question hanging.

Ector: -a demon. – picking up the cane that was on the floor.

-Howg and I were just puppies, but we had already been through a lot with everything we had never faced a demon, the highest degree entity among the spirit world.

Sakeg: -A demon? – he asks himself.

-That day, we found a beautiful woman, who wore red clothes and very flashy, different from that region, as soon as the doctor saw him he soon realized that she was our target but before he could have a chance to kill her he was cursed by that creature. ..

(gift)

Sakegi: -So Ector died because of a curse? – looking at Howl. -I thought curses imprisoned its bearer to something, like that Succubus.

Tulipa: -and that's exactly what they do, but there are 3 different types of curses, imposed, proposed and opposed.

Howl: -The first and most common are the blood curses, made from pacts, that is, proposals, when someone proposed the curse to someone and this lasts for all their lineage and the only way to break a curse like that is long with the act of signing the pact.

Sakegi: -that Succubus, had to make her body penetrated by someone who could withstand her sucking vitality until she could get totally ecstatic before midnight, so it means that the family pact was made by someone who did this to a powerful entity?

Howl: -Yes, however blood pacts can be imposed and the only beings that can impose a curse are witches and demons...

Sakegi looks at Tulipa who already expected that reaction when he found out.

Tulip: -Yes, we witches can curse someone with blood pacts, unlike demons who can impose a curse through a simple contact with the blood of the one who wants to curse, but we all lose something in exchange for cursing someone by imposition.. . – closing his eyes. – we lost our dignity as a being, we lost our abilities and we became ordinary human beings.

Howl: -Eitor was cursed by the demon with a curse imposed, he was trapped by that demon and the only way to break a curse imposed by demons is to kill whoever threw it.

Sakegi: -So why didn't Eito kill the demon? Since she became human. – in a cold sweat hearing the dangers he may be subject to.

Tulipa: -The loss of powers doesn't happen immediately, there is a small period for that, which is called spiritual transition, but that wasn't what got in the way... Eitor fell in love with the demon, Cassandra Hans. – showing indignation at that.

Howl: -Eitor couldn't kill the only woman he loved in his life. - sighing deeply.

Sakegi: -He...died for loving the demon? And so not kill her?

Tulip: -Not exactly, but that was just the beginning... of a long journey.

Howl: -Eitor and Cassandra got together and this angered the demon lord who didn't want his youngest daughter lying with a human, much less an undertaker so he hunted Eitor until one day he was betrayed and was eventually captured and killed.

Sakegi: -Cassandra?

Howl: -No...his older brother and best friend of Eitor, Nestor Hans.

Sakegi: -Damn. - Thoughtful. -you talked about two of the three ways to curse someone... what's the counter? – looking at Howl.

Tulip: -it is the cruelest and most unfair curse of all, the only one that the cursed one has no control or wants to be able to avoid, the opposing curse is one that someone wants so much to have something that he can't that he ends up receiving the opposite for himself or for the one who wants... it's my case. – taking a deep breath.

Sakegi: -Do you have a curse? – feeling that she was bothered but decided to find out more, after all, she had to understand all that.

Tulip: -yes, the one of eternal life... - piercing her own chest to show her heart beating even after being pierced.

Sakegi: -Damn, that was scary, but I thought witches lived forever. – watching Tulipa's skin to recompose itself after the blow.

Tulip: -Don't be silly, nothing lasts forever not even witches or demons, at best we live longer than humans. – holding left arm. -my mother on her deathbed wanted me to go with her to the afterlife, she was depressed and started to say that she didn't want to die alone, that I should accompany her, at that time I was only 20 years old, it was a young witch who was born to humans and just wanted to discover the world around me and abandoned my mother. – putting his hand on his head as if it were heavy. -at 25 I came home because I felt strange and to find out that she had died calling my name just over a month ago, that's when time stopped for me... - sighing deeply. -I stopped aging, my body locked up the way it was when she died, that was a terrible blow to me,

Sakegi: -... - surprised that she was from the time of the Inquisition. -how old are you?

Tulip: -469 years. – looking at Sakegi with watery eyes.

Sakegi: -...!

Sakegi didn't know what she had been through all these years, but he could understand the anguish she felt and the regret she carries with her as she saw the vision of when Tulipa left her mother to venture out as a witch.

Sakegi: -I'm sorry I asked...

Tulipa: -Okay...it's painful, but I have to live with you and you're the second person to whom I speak my true age. – cleaning his eyes.

Howl: -Now do you understand why we are so afflicted with this demon?

Sakegi: So this Hans guy is the traitor who ratted out Ector and delivered him into the hands of the demon king, isn't he?

Howl: -yes. – finding the question strange.

Sakegi: -Then we have one more reason to go after him.

Tulip: -What are you talking about? – raises his voice.

Sakegi: -I know what he did and he can do it to me.

Howl: -No you don't know, nor do you have any idea how much power he gained after delivering the doctor!

Sakegi: -I don't care! - Convinced of was about to speak. -When I got here you told me it was my duty to protect this world from the entities, and that's what I'm going to do, I'm going to save that girl and kill that demon, with or without you. - panting for having said all that quickly.

Howl: -...! – suppressed with what he said.

Tulip: -you speak as if this...

Howl: -Tulip...

Tulip: -What?

Howl: -Doc wouldn't be happy to see us like this.

Tulip: -You're right. – remembers something said to her.

Sakegi: -So? Are you coming with me or not?

Tulipa: -Of course, I have to protect my investment.

Howl: -and I my pupil.

Sakegi: -Then let's get ready! – picking up the top hat.

As they prepare to depart in search of the place Sakegi saw in his vision, Bartô arrives at the place he has searched for for years.

Bartô: -I will finally have my revenge. – entering the rain forest with Howg on his shoulder.

The rainforest is a place formed by spiritual chaotic energy that changes the climate in certain regions, in which case it leaves the forest always humid in others it can make a place dry and desert.

-I have to hide...before he finds me again. – panting near a cave.

-annoying girl...runs and hides like a cat in the night... - Stopped feeling the air flow in the forest. -But to your misfortune, I'm Nestor Hans the demon of hidden smoke. –jinx: steps taken.

The demon creates a smokescreen that mirrors at high speed through the forest until it encounters something arriving in a cave. -I found you. - smiling.

In the town where the funeral home is located, Sakegi and the others are about to depart for what Tulipa thinks is the place Sakegi described.

Sandy: -I want to go with you! - almost crying.

Howl: -Sandy...try to understand.

Sandy: -You'll leave me here...if anything happens to you, I...I'll be alone again.

Sakegi: -That's exactly why I can't take you this time, if something happens you'll have to take care of things here, after all you're my apprentice, aren't you? – stroking the girl's head.

Sandy: -Sakegi... - starts to cry. –please come back alive. – hugging Sakegi.

Sakegi: -I'll do the best I can. – returning the hug.

Sandy: -You too Howw. – hugging the owl.

Howl: -I promise I'll be back, all of us.

Tulipa: - take good care of the boarding house and the Stephanie girls, it's all in your hands now. Stephanie: -Yes Mom, you can count on me.

The three departed in Tulipa's carriage, which was pulled by spiritual horses and could reach the place faster than the common ones and pass through rugged terrain without many hitches.

Sakegi: -We're already here, just hold on a little longer, cat eyes. - He thought as he watched Sandy nod.

In the rain forest Hans manages to reach the girl with the cat eyes before she can hide in the cave.

Hans: -where do you think you're going! – holding her leg with a hand made of smoke.

-let me go! Aaaa! – with eyes shining;

Hans: -You tried not to show your location by avoiding using your eyes, but unfortunately my power is great. – smiling while forming a face in the smoke. –Enough of this game of cat and mouse, you will serve a glorious purpose thanks to those cat eyes of yours.

-I will never help you damn demons!

Hans: -Don't be ridiculous, after all your mother sold you to us a long time ago and we've been cultivating her curse for years for this moment, you belong to us Emilly.

Emilly: -I... don't belong to you! – creating the face of an energy cat in the air.

Hans: -Not again! – feeling his body being ripped apart by something he couldn't see. -Damn girl! – throwing her against a tree.

Emily: -ooo! – spitting blood when having his ribs against the tree trunk. -Mom... - with two broken ribs.

Hans: -Your mother, do you call for her even after all this time? She sold you idiot!

Emilly was the eldest child of a family of 5 siblings, her father died of a rare disease that even the doctors couldn't understand, when she was only 8 years old she was sold by her mother to feed the younger ones, but she never saw that as something bad, after all her sale was to feed the brothers she loved so much, she never felt angry for her hand and always remembers it even after...

Emilly: -Don't talk bad about my mother you freak! – standing up even with his whole body injured.

Hans: -You were always the hardest to deal with offerings...stupid girl! – creating smoke claws that go towards her in order to reach her body without killing her.

Bartô: -I won't allow it! – arrives striking a blow against the claws that break apart when touched by the factor.

Hans: -that voice...

Bartô: -I don't know what's happening here, but I won't allow you to mistreat this beautiful lady.

Emily: -...!

Hans: -It could only be... Bartô boy, the gentleman, Eitor's fucking prodigy. – collecting all the smoke around to make volume in your body.

Bartô: -See how your damned creature speaks. - with fury stamped on his face.

Howg: -Please back off girl, my master will protect you now. – getting close to Emily.

Emily: -a talking owl? – suppressed with that, a man and an owl suddenly arrived to help her.

Hans: -I'll rip you apart like I did with your old master. - smiling.

Bartô: -you can try. – clenching his fists. –How,

Howg: -Yes sir! – creating a barrier of leaves in front of him and Emilly.

Bartô: -factors of the trade: rain of punches!

Bartô runs towards Hans delivering several punches that seem like raindrops falling on all the smoke spreading it.

Hans: -I see, you're trying to make me lose weight so I can't use my territorial expansion, very smart. - Dodging the blows that came in the direction of his voice.

Bartô: -That's right, and if I remember correctly, you can only attack if you make your smoke tangible, and at that moment I'll hit it right in your face! – getting closer and closer to where the smoke is coming out.

Hans: -Damn...jinx: thick smoke wave!

The demon releases a large mass of smoke through its mouth that reaches Bartô, who takes advantage of the breach to try to hit Hans while he was tangible.

Bartô: -tsk, tsk! – Coughing after inhaling smoke. -what was this?

Hans: -the way I found to avoid close-range blows like yours, you brat. – throwing more smoke towards Bartô who tried to attack again.

Bartô: -tsk, tsk. – panting.

Hans: -soon you will be intoxicated with my smoke.

Emily: -Is he alright? - concerned. -We have to help.

Howg: -Don't worry, he trained a lot for that day.

Bartô: -since I can't get close enough to hit your real body. – standing erect with the cane in hand. -I'll have to use this... to kill you.

Hans: -What are you talking about, brat. – with yellow eyes shining. – don't speak heresies! – attacking with a blow of smoke.

Bartô: -factors of the trade: divergent fists! – with the fists emanating a green fire.

Bartô stops Hans' blow using his right fist, which causes a great shock of power that mirrors the entire forest until he leaves it.

Tulip: -What's wrong? – feeling the spiritual energy go through it.

Howl –that energy! Is it Barto?

Sakegi: -Bartô is here?

Tulip: -Is that idiot here? We have to hurry.

Howl: -yes.

Sakegi: -Bartô... - Looking at the treetops.

Hans and Bartô start hitting each other several blows and Bartô's divergent fists start hitting Hans' body even though he is not naturally tangible.

Hans: -What a power this is! – feeling being hit directly.

Bartô: -one who was created exclusively to face you, a being who is neither in this world nor in the other.

Bartô's divergent fists use spiritual energy in order to let it out of their fists, creating a kind of way to reach something that is not in this world or in the other, that is, something is in limbo as is the case with Hans' hex.

Hans: -so if that's the case, all I have to do is stay away from those fists of yours. – forming a body of smoke instead of spreading like it was doing before. -I want to see it hit me from afar, your... - Having the old body for an energy coming from Bartô. -like? – with the body split in two.

Bartô: -Learn about the evolution of the divergent fists, the spectral fists. – releasing energy from punches in the air towards Hans.

Hans: -You bastard! – having the body divided into 2 parts when hit. –miserable brat. – uniting the parts and for the first time showing your real body.

Nestor Hans is a demon of the hornless class, demons like that assume human appearance but still have albino skin, he was a tall adult, with yellow eyes, black hair and wore the clothes of rich people at the time.

Hans: -My body is injured after so many years... - panting.

Bartô: -I will eliminate him, and avenge him, my master. – leaving the fire more intense in his fists.

Hans: -revenge...

(Flashback)

Nestor: -Forgive me... - hitting Eito in the back.

Ector: -What did you do? – feeling his soul be paralyzed.

Nestor: -I need to protect my clan...

(gift)

Hans: -I can't let everything I sacrificed be lost here...

Bartô: -Die, devil! – running towards him with the spectral fist about to hit Hans' body.

Emily: -No, be careful! – with eyes shining.

Howg: -an? – seeing the cat's eyes.

Hans: -too late, Emily...

Bart: -...!

Holw: -Bartô! – turning to see what had happened.

Hans used the same dagger he used against Ector a long time ago and managed to stop Bartho's power before he was hit.

Bartô: -Damn... - speaking with difficulties.

Howg: -Bartô! – shooting razor-shaped leaves at Hans.

Hans: -Damn owl! – dropping Bartô's body on the ground to deflect the leaves by taking a certain distance.

Howg: -Bartô, Bartô! – trying to stop the blood.

Hans: -It's no use, he's under my sister's misfortune, petrification of the soul. - smiling. -maybe it's better to end your agony right now. – preparing a coup.

Howg: -Don't come close, you bastard! – throwing razor leaves at Hans as tears come out of his eyes.

Hans: -pathetic. – dodging again. - See Emilly, this is your real curse... you can never use your predictions to help anyone. - looking at the girl who was in shock.

Bartô: -Run away...Howg...and take the girl with you... - managing to get up.

Hans: -It doesn't seem to reach a vital point, what a pity... - displeased.

Howg: -No Bartô...

Bartô: -Howg...go! – creating divergent fists.

Howg: -oooo! – going to the girl. -We have to get away from here...

Emilly: -No... run away, he just me... it's because of me that you...

Bartô: -Don't be silly...this has nothing to do with you, but if I'm going to die here, at least I'll fulfill my duty as an undertaker. – half staggering. -Run now! – firing a blow at Hans.

Hans: -How touching... - punching Bartô's stomach before he could aim perfectly at him. -Goodbye Bartô, jinx...

Howg: -...!

Emily: -...!
