Chapter 32 - Study Break Shenanigans

After weeks of intense training and missions, I found myself buried under a mountain of textbooks in the library at Akatsuki Academy. Exams were looming, and the pressure to perform was palpable. But today, my friends and I were determined to take a break from the relentless studying.

"Guys, I think we need a breather," I said, closing my biology textbook with a thud. "My brain feels like it's about to explode."

Yuki looked up from her notes, a mischievous glint in her eye. "You're right, Hiroto. How about we ditch the books for a bit and do something fun?"

Mei, always eager for adventure, perked up. "I heard there's a new dessert place that just opened near the campus. Who's up for a sugar rush?"

Ren, the voice of reason as usual, raised an eyebrow. "Shouldn't we be focusing on our exams? They're just around the corner."

Akari rolled her eyes, closing her laptop. "Oh come on, Ren. A little break won't hurt. We've been studying non-stop."

Ren sighed, relenting. "Fine, but let's make it quick. We still have a lot to cover."

We gathered our things and made our way to the dessert cafe buzzing with anticipation. The smell of freshly brewed coffee and baked goods greeted us as we entered, finding a cozy booth near the window.

"So, what's everyone having?" Mei asked eagerly, eyeing the display case filled with tempting treats.

Takeshi pointed to a decadent chocolate cake. "That one looks amazing. Chocolate is my go-to stress reliever."

Yuki opted for a fruit tart, her eyes sparkling. "Something light to keep me focused."

Ren ordered a tiramisu, nodding in approval. "A classic choice."

Akari, scanning the menu, couldn't decide. "Hmm, maybe I'll just try a bit of everything."

Mei laughed. "Now that's the spirit!"

As we indulged in our desserts, the conversation turned to lighter topics, jokes, and anecdotes lightening the mood.

"So, who's ready for the physics exam?" Mei teased, raising her spoon.

Takeshi groaned. "Don't even mention it. I feel like I've memorized every formula known to man."

Yuki nudged him playfully. "You'll be fine, Takeshi. Just think of it as another puzzle to solve."

Ren smirked. "I hope I can remember everything I crammed into my brain."

Akari added with a smirk. "I thought I was the only one cramming. Nice to know we're all in the same boat."

Our laughter echoed through the cafe, drawing amused glances from other patrons. For a moment, the stress of exams and missions melted away, replaced by the simple joy of good company and delicious treats.

As we finished our desserts and prepared to head back to the library, Takeshi glanced at his watch. "Alright, time to get back to the grind."

Yuki grinned mischievously. "But can we agree to come back here after exams? We definitely deserve a celebration."

Ren chuckled, closing his notebook. "Deal. And this time, no talk about exams."

With renewed energy and a sugar high, we returned to our studies, feeling lighter and more connected than before. As we tackled the remaining chapters and practice problems, I knew that no matter the outcome of our exams, I had friends who had my back—both in the field and in the library.
