Artemis didn't hear anything until it was her turn and she widened her eyes and her stomach turned,
"...then we have this angel...", the auctioneer grabbed her arm roughly and dragged her to the front out of the line, he pulled up her hair revealing her fair and smooth neck and collarbones, she froze -sacred and she shut her eyes and Alexander's eyes darkened and he lips curved into a scowl.
"Gentlemen, how will you like to have this untainted eighteen year old virgin under you, screaming your name in ecstasy", Artemis couldn't believe her ears and eyes as people -men bid for her and it is kept going up,
"Five hundred silver coins",
"Six hundred silver coins",
"One hundred gold coins",
'Coins? Where are the dollars', she thought,
"One thousand gold coins", a man said and Artemis could hear gasps, all eyes including hers went to the man sitting at the far end in the front row, he had red shiny hair. Alexander didn't have to turn his head to see who it was,
"Lexus Silver", he muttered as his face darkened even more,
"Councilman Lexus?...", he looked at the crowd and to Artemis and back at Lexus before he smiled,
"I'll get her packed up for you", Artemis' heart clenched as a tear slipped down her eye, Alexander saw this and sighed before grinning,
"Five thousand gold coins", Alexander raised his hand and all eyes were on him including Artemis, Lexus frowned and Alexander smiled, he stood up and made his to the podium and he stood in front of her, his height towering over her.
Artemis looked at her curled toes and his eyes narrowed,
"Councilman Alex...", he swallowed, "... do you want her... branded or... or...", he swallowed his words when Alexander raised his hand to tell him to keep quiet, his eyes glided over her neck to her shoulders and Artemis shriveled dramatically when she felt his gaze on her,
"That won't be necessary, I wouldn't want my pet's fair skin ruined. Take her to the carriage outside and come by evening to collect your money".
Artemis was taken to the carriage and Alexander walked to Mr Harper,
"Mr Harper, I'm going to leave early, I'll send someone to pick you up", he turned to leave,
"Alexander? Don't you think you spent a little too much on that... slave girl?", Mr Harper stopped him but Alex didn't turn to look at him and he said,
"Mr Harper, How is my spending any of your problem, last time I checked you were not or are not related to me, so... Mind your business, Mr Harper", he smiled,
"So, I'll leave first", and he turned to Lexus, "Nice to see you Councilman Lexus", he bowed slightly and Lexus frowned even deeper. Alexander left while his lips were curled up into a charming smile.
