The skeletons a group of five of them were pounding on the gate and we had to answer or they would kill us the knights of the deep had screwed us over good this time they pissed off a town of skeletons that weren't harming anyone just so they wouldn't lose one tiny expanse they never made use of and now we as always had to suffer the consequenses in thier stead goddamn it so i walked over to the gate and slowly opened it i dropped to my knees and started begging to be spared i knew skeletons were vengeful beasts but hopefully these ones could still be reasoned with but the leader said somthing i didn't expect he didn't want to kill me or any of us he wanted us to come and live with them
We arrived at the town after a while of walking and it was nice the walls were a bit thin but with some mud or even clay they would be fine walls against beasts but for humans you would need stone bricks and cement for it to be effective the houses were solid compared to ours and there were plenty of them enough for all fourty of us to have one and there would still be plenty left over there were also skeleton roaming the town building what looked lik a blacksmiths forge some were making arrows and others were just making cordage for everyday uses most of them stood guard on towers placed every twenty feet across the wall and small groups of skeletons would come and go ever now and then with loads of biomass that they dropped into what looked like a smokehouse
Our group was just now settling in and the children were scared of the skeleton but those fears were unwarrented they were helping us they even made an attempt at making the anti mana medicine that the kids needed it was only half efectiveness but it was better than what the knights were giving us witch was nothing and then some i had started to talk to a skeleton named nyx yesterday and she is very nice to me she fight wth a weapon called a blowpipe it shoots these long iron needles that she coats in different poisons i offered her a bowl of stew and she took a couple of hearty bites before doubling over in pain and then projectile vomiting onto the ground after a few straight minutes of this she got up and apologised to me i guess they can't eat human food for some reason that's strange as other monsters can
The people of my village were warming up to the skeletons and we had started farming to feed ourselves humans can eat monster flesh in a pinch but if you eat to much of it you will shit your self for a week straight so we chose to start farming aain at this point the leader of the skeletons came back form the catacombs along with who i can only assume is his bodyguard it stood a a hulking 7 feet tall and had a massive greatswotd on it's back it looked like it was enchanted too they went into a house and locked themselves in i asked nyx why and she said they were evolving this was the chance of a lifetime i need to observe this i asked the leader and he said yes this will be the first time in written history that somone will observe a monster's evolution up close
the evolution process was a strange thing the body was soft and maleable and every time a change was made it came with a sickening cracking noise the body didn't change much from how it normaly was but it had a few changes such as the runes carved into the skull and the glowing lei lines in the ribcage the skills he gained were strange but acceptable for his level a scribe came in with a roll of parchment to write down all the changes that happened
the children were playing with the skeletons they are less sick now then they were do to the new medicine they were taking and they also weren't as scared of the skeletons ay more and the big guy his names bellator is a real child at heart he's playing hide and seek with the kids right now im baking a loaf of bread with some flour that we brought from our town so that i can make the kids some food when they come home our life has been improved with the skeletons taking us here now i think if i had to go back to the old village i'd slit my own wrists befor they could drag me back there
