Chapter 6 - Danger

The group searching for supplies consisted of Ba'al in the lead, flanked by Luke and Amana. Behind them was Samantha who stayed at the front of the group while Abby covered the back of the group. As they left, John took a seat outside the gymnasium with his spear.

"Where should we head first?" Samantha asked Ba'al.

Scratching his head, "I think we should check out Stark Learning Center and the Cohen Science Center since they will probably have medical supplies in the lab areas. Even basic supplies like those will come in handy since we can't make them ourselves."

"After that, we could probably check out the Student Center. It will be the most likely place to find food since the cafeteria is on the third floor." Luke stated.

"I-I think we should also c-check out Passan Hall. I-It is the health services center a-after all." Amana whispered.

"Good idea Amana." Ba'al replied. The group then started to make their way towards the Stark Learning Center (SLC) and Cohen Science Center (CSC) first since they were together and the closest at that.

As they got close to both buildings, they had to cross the greenway. Looking at the grass, there was a large patch in the center of it that was withered and blackened. The windows on the SLC across the green were either cracked or shattered. Other than this and a few zombies wandering around the area, it was eerily empty. "I guess this is were you fought the shade last night, hm?" Samantha asked, pointing to the withered area.

"Indeed. I didn't notice that the area around it had withered like this though. Why don't we wait around here for a minute while I help Amana and Luke connect with this, gift let's say, that Akasha has granted us." Ba'al used his Unclassified: Danger Sense skill to check whether there was any danger in the group waiting in the greenway area. He felt a small sense of danger emanating from the direction of the river, but not anything worth mentioning. What really concerned Ba'al was that he got an extremely strong sense of danger from the withered area of the grass. He wasn't sure exactly why, but he had a strong urge to put a large distance between it and himself. "I have a skill that helps me sense danger, and I am getting a strong feeling specifically from that withered zone. We should be safe as long as nothing enters that area, so I will start helping Luke and Amana hunt. Get ready to start searching the buildings as soon as we are done."

Heading over towards where the zombies were, Ba'al tossed his knife to Luke. "You're up first Luke. I'll disable it then you can finish it off." Running at the closest zombie, Ba'al elbowed it in the jaw, tearing it off before grabbing its arms and pulling them off. He then kicked it in Luke's direction. Walking over to the fallen zombie, Luke took the silver knife and drove it right into its skull. A small white orb flew to Luke and Ba'al respectively.

'You have killed a Lvl.2 zombie.'

"What skill did you get?" Ba'al asked as Luke pulled the knife from the zombies head and handed it to Amana.

"I got the Unclassified: Strength Enhancement skill. It has boosted my strength to what Akasha says is over twice as strong as the average person." Luke smiled as he felt the power rush through him.

Smiling back, Ba'al looked over at Amana. "Are you ready? I'll get another zombie ready for you."

Grabbing Ba'al's shoulder, Amana stopped him. "I-If you don't mind, could I try to handle one on m-my own?"

"Of course. Although I won't step in, so make sure you are mindful of what's going on around you." Ba'al nodded at the courage that she was showing. "Luke, if you feel up to it without the silver knife, you could try to take on a few of the zombies with this." He tossed one of the regular knives he had over to Luke.

While watching Amana skirt around a sole zombie, Ba'al saw Luke rush in and take down another 2 zombies. Eventually Amana got behind the zombie and lunged in, stabbing it in the back of the head. With the stab, she tackled it and stabbed it a few more times. Rolling off of it, Amana hurled on the ground before shakily getting to her feet. "I-I-I got t-the First Order: Healing Magic Affinity skill."

Grabbing her hand and steadying her, Ba'al smiled as he got his knife back. "That's great, from what I know, healing magic is similar to light magic, although light magic only hastens growth when used non-lethally. Healing magic might forcefully cause recovery in wounds that would not ordinarily heal."

Gasping, Amana's eyes lit up. "H-How did you know? This w-was in the information t-that was with the s-skill. Y-You nearly told it word for word!"

"I just made a guess based upon what I already knew about magic and from what the name of your skill told me." Ba'al smiled while turning back towards the group. "Let's get back to everyone else, we need to gather the supplies we came for, right?"

Just as they were walking back within earshot they heard, "You were told to stay away from there!"

Once they could see what was going on, they saw one of the guys who had originally been with the guy who got his finger broken. He was trying to get to the withered area saying, "That guy just wants everyone else to listen to him because he has a little power. What could happen from walking over a bit of grass? I bet he just wants us all to wait until he can search it himself. I'd even bet that there's some kind of treasure here."

Turning, the guy saw that Ba'al was standing right behind him now. "If you want to try it, then wait until we clear out the buildings. I will not have you put everyone here in senseless danger for your own ego." Ba'al placed his knife up against the guys throat. "If you have a problem with that, I'll deal with you now."
